If it was a private sale (as opposed to a professional breeder) then the SOGA does not apply & its a matter of buyer beware

    Private sale = game over.

No comeback, unless specifically asked the relevent question and could prove that seller knowingly lied.

We need to know the rest of the story though.

Yes, if the dog was bought from someone with 1 breeding !!!!! who has 1 litter a year, they are not covered by SOG.

But a lot of the time breeders will describe themselves as a private seller when often they will be acting in the course of business.

Do they have a business name? Are they licensed?

It looks like you may be left to collar the cost.

    Tut, tut....

    Had me howling with laughter.
  • When I bought my pedigree puppy, I had to register ownership with the Kennel Club who gave me six weeks free insurance. Might be worth checking with them if insurance was in place. The breeder I bought from also had insurance which covered the pup for a week after the sale to give me time to set up our own.
