If it was a private sale (as opposed to a professional breeder) then the SOGA does not apply & its a matter of buyer beware0

Yes, if the dog was bought from someone with 1 breeding !!!!! who has 1 litter a year, they are not covered by SOG.
But a lot of the time breeders will describe themselves as a private seller when often they will be acting in the course of business.
Do they have a business name? Are they licensed?0 -
When I bought my pedigree puppy, I had to register ownership with the Kennel Club who gave me six weeks free insurance. Might be worth checking with them if insurance was in place.The breeder I bought from also had insurance which covered the pup for a week after the sale to give me time to set up our own.0
