Vaseline is another good one- though can leave your eyes all bleary!
I use up any old moisturisers (apply and remove with cotton wool pads or a flannel or muslin cloth) that otherwise would not have agreed with my skin and as long as I rinse/wash my face afterwards I don't tend to get any problems.
I have never found soap to remove mascara well but liquid facial soaps for some reason do work.0 -
Can anyone recommend a good home-made way of doing an exfoliating scrub on my scalp.......just had my hair cut short because when its long my scalp itches & drives me mad........certain shampoos seem to irritate my skin, so can anyone suggest something off the kitchen shelf which will do?0

I had a bout of terrible itchy scalp and the only thing that cleared it up was Betnovate that my GP gave me, it was like magic, it cleared up in 3 days and I haven't had it since... and I had tried loads of different stuff the chemist advised me over the last 6mths I had scratched it till it bled once or twice..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

You can 'Spirit Soap' over the counter from the Pharmacist at Superdrug which is good. I was put on to it by a friend whose hairdresser recommended it as a way of stripping out all the 'gunk' we put in our hair. Its very liquidy, so you need to be careful when pouring however, you only need a small amount and it lathers up really well. You can actually end up hearing your hair squeaking as you rinse it. Its very good for cradle cap and my teenage nephew uses it from time to time as he has very thick hair which causes him to have a sweaty head, as do I (have the sweaty itchy head that is). Last time I got it was ages ago and the Pharmacist took about 10 days to get it in but it is about £3-4 for a big bottle. Hope this helps.I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.0

If it's itchy/sore you should get it checked out just incase you have any kind of infection or something that's causing it.
On my husband I've used a bit of salt or sugar in olive oil (just in the palm of my hand) as a scrub after I've done his hair (0 cut) to help exfoliate the dry skin, we both also use shower products that have no mineral oil/synthetics in it otherwise both of us suffer different types of irritation and dry scalp.

Yes, similar to the Clobetasol Priopionate I am using when it gets really bad....doc said it could leave white marks on the skin & suggested instead using daktakort athletes foot cream0
