greenbee you can get LED bulbs for halogen lights which are supposed to use less
I've been contemplating these for ages, but the decent ones are really expensive, and only available via mail order... the not so good ones that I should be able to buy in shops never seem to be in stock... but hopefully i'll get round to it sometime. I have places where I can start with the LEDs, and then gradually replace halogens as they keel over and die.

Been in touch with new & old gas supplier, it's been moved a month & no bill. Anyway the old one said they have't had reads so I've worked it out myself. August 27th-Oct 13th £15 ish...not bad considering they are expensive one (we use gas for shower, dishwasher etc too) I've just found this calculator on here. Unfortunately since the colder weather started our usage has gone up....hugely! Trying to work out where/how we can save but then of course it'll go up with the tanks. Gas is higher, will monitor that more.

Off to see if I can find a thread of average uses, we're at (now) about 15 ish units per day electric & gas about 27 (kwh) eeek
Average uses are difficult to work out as there are so many variables (size of house, age of house, size of windows, insulation etc, plus how long you spend in the shower etc.

Remember that gas is the cheapest fuel, so use it in preference to electricity wherever possible.

Don't forget the simple things - thermal blinds/curtains, or even just layers of blinds and curtains; door curtains and draught excluders; reflectors behing radiators on outside walls, dark paint behind ones on inside walls, blocking the chimney if you don't use the fire to stop the howling gale, closing internal doors etc.

Ok... must head off as I have a pedicure now! See you later...

Okay, I've not done badly this week

    Monday to Thursday lists completed!!!

I do feel shattered mind you. Hopefully it's just been worse this week due to decorating / not doing much when DS was poorly / DH being away etc. I've saved the best bits till tomorrow and the weekend. Yeah!!!!!!!! I can concentrate on Christmas now! Ahhhh just remembered...they'll be a list tomorrow. What's left to do.....children's rooms? xx

    Christmas list
Print of Christmas card list and add/delete (weekend)
Empty wardrobe, drawers etc of unwrapped presents - sort and wrap (Friday)

so are you going to stage a hostile takeover in her absence :p I assume you have at least perfected your manicure.

I'm sooo tempted to do the hostile takeover. At one point she said "of course once you get used to the meetings, you'll have the minutes to do". These are 3 meetings once a quarter. As if the minutes will take me long! I reckon I could do her job AND my job AND half the job of the colleague and STILL have a bit of time to surf.

But I'm sorry I'm whinging. I really shouldn't. But, I have flown :D I'm going to finish off the living room now then say a long helloooooo! to Gordon..

    Afternoon peeps

Had lovely lunch with DH, still full as a tick. Then had a wander round town and got a couple of neices pressies and have an idea for DD's main present so pleased with that.

Not cooking tea as DD is still out and from the mess in the sink DS ate when he got in from school

Triker - glad your man's ok, sorry about the car but better that way round x

FFP - Feels good to pay them off doesnt it. Good luck with finishing the other 2. Well done to the children.

mummyof5 - condolences on the loss of your WM :rotfl:

LadyLib - I have a better idea, forget the standard wheelchair and get one of those electric scooter types. Then you can customise it by removing the seat and replacing with a Harley King and Queen one and Harley handlebars. Much more your style I think ;)

To everyone else - 1.gif if you need them and :T if you have flown

Now surfing for more pressies then I promise I will do something before a flying mule comes my way.

ETA - thinking of getting DD a Pandora bracelet for xmas. Any ideas on whether its a good idea or not and cheapest place to buy (have also started a thread on the Christmas board) Thanks
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!
