Freeview help needed...please!

We got a freeview box for Christmas. I text the number on the box to see if we could get signal in our area and apparently we couldnt. As it was only a cheap box I thought I would open it and give it a try anyway and it worked! We could get all channels and the picture never froze or jumped.
....Until earlier this week! When we put the freeview box on now we just get the 'no signal' message.
I was just thinking of getting one of the PVR boxes with top up tv but I dont want to pay £190 if we cant get the signal again.
Is it possible for the freeview signal to just disappear or has something else gone wrong?
What do you think? Please help!

have you tried you connections? and the aerial is up and ok?Things that are free in life are great, well most of the time :beer:0

Seems a bit surprising that it should go from OK to no signal. Is there absolutely nothing on any channel?
All I can suggest is you check your connections and try a re-tune.0 -
For information on which transmitter you should be receiving from see http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tvd.exe0

Check your connections, if not your aerial could be damaged although that is unlikely unless you have had a storm lately.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

ours was borderline and worked until the hot weather,we had an aerial blokey round to look and he said the hot weather can affect the signal so if yours was borderline,same problem.We got a signal booster thingummy added and it is fine now.0

The problem with digital broadcasts is that they have a very sharp cut-off for quality - they either work or they don't. Analogue is more resilient, and you can still watch TV with a poor signal even if the quality is poor. So a small drop in digital signal quality means a total loss of signal
(Mobile phones were like this when they were switching to digital)
One of the reasons that the quality degrades in the summer is the growing leaves which can get between you and the transmitter. A few trees may just tip the quality low enough to cause the breakup, especially as you are in a dodgy area (for Freeview, that is
)
A signal booster will improve things to a point, but it will also boost the noise in the signal, so may not be the answer. They're only a tenner online, and if it doesn't work, distance selling regs mean you can send it back and get your money (but not your postage) back.
Then you're into getting a proper Freeview-compatible aerial. Do some research on this, as there are lots of supposedly digital aerials which aren't and even some aerial fitters who don't really know the difference.Jumbo

hmmm looks like the leaves has a lot to answer for. Not only can it stop a train on its track it can also interfere with digital signals :-)Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
