I think my mum did that Antrim, I remember an awful lot of fried tatties bacon and cabbage when I was wee! Thanks all so much, I couldnt think how to mix the cauli with the cabbage and not be on veg overload (not keen on veg !!) but if I cover it with cheese sauce and fry the bacon and cabbe, throw in some tatties, then I could get away with it. Yaaay!0

Or you could do as we did back in the day when funds were tight and instead of having it all in one meal .... have cauliflower cheese as one dinner and then the bacon and cabbage with potato as another meal. Moneysaving, saves on veg overload and you'll also save on bloat and wind0

Actually - that wud be good. I could do cauli cheese with half the bacon tonight ? And the rest fried with cabbage and pots tomorrow night ?? I been letting things go as not well, and last night we ate a huge dollop of mince in one meal - far too much - so decided to stoppit now.0

A bit late now, but I would have made stuffed cabbages including the bacon, and maybe mashed cauliflower on the side if it needed using desperately or, more likely, mashed potato and save the cauliflower for the next meal. I'm vegan and I have iron guts, but I still don't think I'd go for that much cruciferous veg in one meal!0

I would probably add some garlic to the shredded cabbage and bacon as well.
ETA: Tracey's idea sounds absolutly yummy as well.
With you all the way Jacket and go heavy with the garlic.
Or why not some sort of stir fry? If you do don't forget the ginger.:AHappiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -

Mardatha if you're low on energy you need carbohydrates no just a plateful of veggies. Cabbage and bacon? Mmmmmm yummy. Ditto cauli cheese with fried tatties, Boiled ones would make everything on the plate the same colour. I don't necessarily find that very appetising. Keep your strength up, girl!0
