Like most of us, I have lots in still from Christmas and I am fairly certain that, apart from milk, I can feed myself and my two DDs for 7 days without visiting a supermarket.
Anybody else fancy doing this with me?
I usually spend anything from £40-£70 a week (yayyy it used to be double that!) on groceries but with a little clever planning I am sure I can make what we have in already last a week. So that will be a saving of between £40 and £70 this month!!!
I did go shopping today so I have enough rolls and sandwich things for DDs packed lunches so if anyone needs to get those bits in and then join in that would be cool . Also, I think we need to allow ourselves to get milk, but nothing else.
I have tinned fruit (which we hardly ever use) and frozen veg etc so won't need to top up on fruit or veg.
There are some very wise and savvy people on this board so even if we run very low on ideas, we will be able to draw on their advice.
So, who is in it with me?
As this is a shopping thread, it better belongs on the Food Shopping Board.
Alternatively, if it's a way of reducing your stocks, we can add it to the Stoprecupbioard Challenge thread.

Count me in but I am ashamed to say after all these years as a MSE I still don't know how much I spend on food!!!
I did some shopping yesterday 5lb mince, a chicken,a loin of pork and we have our milk delivered so I will see how long I can last without doing any shopping but will make sure it is more than 7 days.
I'll take a guess at £60 to help with frugals calculations but I'm sure its more than that..I think this years resolution for me should be to start counting what I spend on food,I work in a town so I pick bits up as I go along. This week I think I will leave my purse at home then I can't be tempted.I did this once before when I was doing a no spend challenge and I was amazed at how unnerved I felt leaving the house without myu purse!!0 -
Hi Frugal
count me in!!!!
i have loads in - 2 bread in freezer and 1 milk too, plus a bottle of milk in fridge and a carton of uht - and yesterday went shopping for my fresh veg so we should be fine and as you know, i need to save as much as possible so we don't go overdrawn so i can pay my parking fine!!
i usually budget £100 for the month for shopping so that's about £25 a week but if i can save the £35 that my fine will cost me then that would be bl**dy fantastic!!
i am planning on making some fairy cakes for DD's packed lunch and i might make some flapjacks(was thinking twinks but far too addictive and unhealthy lol).... actually if you get a minute could you please share your raisin flapjack recipe?? if you don't mind
EDIT: actually as i have my monthly shopping money in my purse i might take out my fine money now and put it to one side, pay my fine on monday and forget about the money i've put to one side and then by the end of this month if i don't need that money, use it towards next months shopping money..........0 -
Can I join please? :j It will tie in with the NSD challenge I'm doing on the DFW board as well. My "shopping week" for food begins on a Saturday so for me this challenge would run until Saturday - or would that be cheating because this is Sunday
?
My normal grocery shop per week is about £25 on average each Saturday but I have been known to top this up midweek with "stuff".
My freezer is full, storecupboards are full and I have about 5 cartons of UHT milk in the cupboard. I'f I'm honest I probably have enough for 2 weeks of this challenge, even for lunches too. Might try for 2 weeks actually .........:cool:DFW Nerd Club # 13640
