I have a huge chest freezer which is absolutely full. I have made a list of everything that is in it and am going to use a lot of if up so that I can fill it with Christmas goodies. There is no room at the moment, also, I was appauled to find 6 packs of chicken breasts in there, I just seem to use the stuff on the top, and never dig down. Some odd meals may appear very shortly. Luckily I don't seem to have an "ice monster" just yet.January GC: £64.81/£80.00

I'm with you pink_numbers. Been trying to empty the freezer for a couple of months now - but still keep buying.
Have a small freezer compartment in a fridge freezer that we keep upstairs and a small chest freezer. Both need defrosting very soon.
Made a list last month and have made meal plans round it, but still bought stuff.
SO, the plan is to eat our way through as much as possible before I do my next big shop (evening of Tues 28 Sept looks like a good time). Stuff, the remaining frozen stuff in the fridge freezer compartment and defrost the chest freezer first. Then sort the fridge freezer out.
Fridge freezer has the following in it (from memory):
1 pack bacon - belongs to the charity I do work for
1 pack sausage - as above
2 portions veg pasta bake - take for lunches
2 bags scones
4 pieces of lemon drizzle cake
1 pack sausage rolls - going to give these to my friend for a kids party!
few cocktail sausages - add to sausage casserole I'm planning
box spring rolls
Think thats it for the one freezer anyway. Its good to write it all down as it gives you incentive to get it done.

So glad you can join us
toontron - I'd be so useless with a chest freezer, I would NEVER see the bottom of it and I'd probably fossilise a few things. woooo Christmas goodies, oh I'm already looking forward to filling up my freezer again, how bad is that?
misscousinitt - You have far better control of your fridge/freezer than I doI'd love to help you out with the lemon drizzle cake!

To be honest it is dreadful, it just gets topped up all the time, you could date the layers in there, Time Team would have a field day. Then there are the tupperware containers that all contain something that could be stew/chilli/curry - Surprise Supper night coming up with those, then there are the containers that could be stock, could be soup! At the bottom I found a box of profiterolls with robins and snowmen printed on them - worse - Im sure I didn't buy any last year:eek:January GC: £64.81/£80.00

I've just been informed that there should also be a veg chilli the OH put in... well how am I suppose to know that if he didn't put it on the stock list... lol0 -
Can I join in, please?
I defrosted my freezer a couple of months ago so it's not too bad on the ice front, but the middle drawer's jammed () and I really need to empty everything out so that I can unjam it.
I'll do a freezer inventory over the weekend so I know what I need to use up, and will stay away from the reduced to clear section of the supermarket from now on!Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi pink_numbers - haven't really got that much control - thats just the one freezer! But I have been chipping away at it for a while now. Was thinking about having the lemon drizzle cake slices with custard mmmmm.....Mortgage Free x 1 03.11.2012 - House rented out Feb 2016

dogcat - How do you keep the chest freezer organised? I've always been too scared to buy a chest freezer because I know I'll just end up with a layer of food at the bottom that will never see the light of day again. It'd be wonderful if you have any tips
CCP - I'd love for you to join, the more the merrier! It's going to be SO hard keeping away from the reduced section isn't it... I just really hope I don't see any yellow stickers...
misscousinitt - as much as I would love to claim to be as amazing as pink_winged, sadly, I am not! lol mmmm lemon drizzle cake with custard sounds amazingly nice. Do you have another freezer?0 -
pink_numbers - so sorry, brain not working properly. Yes have another freezer too - the one with the contents listed above is only the small one with odds and ends in. Have another freezer (small chest freezer) underneath the stairs with everything else in. Got to munch our way through that one too...Mortgage Free x 1 03.11.2012 - House rented out Feb 2016
