Yikes. All we've got in the freezer are about 6 packets of bread rolls, 8 potato waffles, a bag of cauliflower & broccoli florets and some sprouts which fell out the bag.

    We're so jealous !

 I wish I had that much, or that my freezer was big enough! I'd just stop buying meat for a few months, you'd definitely save some dosh.
I'd make some pastry cones and fill them with berries and ice-cream. Or a pie top for a beef stew.
Stick some dates in crumbles and bread puddings, extra gooey and delicious.
Would it be hygienic to cook up some stews and casseroles and freeze them for quick meals?
Maybe save the lobster for Christmas, and the cooked meats and gammon for a cheese board type occasion(my family does this boxing day, i know some do this christmas eve).
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:

I did use a lot up & it wasn't full at all a couple of months ago.

I bought a lot of it at bargain basement prices, but thats what freezers are for:money:

I have the dates for Nigellas sticky toffee pudding:D

I will use the cooked meats for lunches & maybe the Italian ones for meals.

Good point about the lobster for Xmas:T
I will save a Gammon for Xmas:T DH & DD love Nigellas ham in cola so the M&S one is no good as thats a little one with a glaze, but the big Tesco one would be perfect:D

DH had eaten the ice-cream already:mad::mad::mad:

He opens the freezer, its all mega tidy (shelves sorted by meat type), he spots the ice-cream & ate it:mad::mad::mad:

I haven't really got room to cook & store, but as I get it down I will try that:T
Would be fab to be able to take a HM casserole or cottage pie or something out & not have to cook but still have a good hearty meal:D

We usually have salmon on xmas eve, they always do whole salmons before xmas cheap in Tesco & I buy a whole one & get it filleted & freeze it, I "think" thats where that lonely single one has come from:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I think I will use that & some of the smoked fish for a fish pie, will need to get a few prawns to add to that.

God mrsE how big is your freezer? BTW I didn't even realise you could freeze cooked meats that you buy for sandwiches.

I'm unsure why I didn't realise this as I am perfectly aware if I cook it, I can freeze it and also that you can freeze sandwiches. I'm always running out of 'sandwich ham' for packed lunches...now I know what to do!

    Good luck with your quest.

this has inspired me to stock-take my chest freezer, it's an absolute shambles

everything just gets chucked in & as I've only recently begun labelling (I always used to think I'd remember) I'm sure there are unidentifiable things lurking in it :(

I need to do my cupboards too, I lived up a glen for 20+ years & had to have supplies as we'd sometimes be snowed in for months
I live in the city now & am trying to get out of the habit of stocking up :o

This is a great idea! My freezer has been slowing emptying in the last few weeks as I have been trying to use up stuff. I have written a freezer inventory (not as long as yours mind you) This would certainly help with the GC for September!

Will subscribe to this thread to see how you are doing:)

    You inspired me MrsE,

Although I am in awe at your amazing freezer and organisational skills. How on earth did everyone here become so organised???

I decided to take an inventory of mine which I duly did, found some unidentifiable meat from god knows when and hundreds of frozen blueberries rolling around the bottom - the shame.
I got carried away and hacked half a bucket of ice from the sides and threw out lots of disgusting looking bits and bobs (don't think 3 year old ice cream is a good idea).

Now I have a lovely tidy freezer, a lovely list of what I have and am feeling very proud for having 11 portions of casserole home made and frozen.

    Yay, thank you!

    What like my

    2 x bacon chops (I think?)

I'm amazed at how much is in there, truely. I honestly thought it didn't hold that much:rotfl:

I try so hard to use up what I have, but I just can't resist a freezable bargain! I have an undercounter freezer with 4 drawers and a small freezer section in my fridge and all of them are jam packed. I tend to have 'homemade ready meals' in mine rather than 'ingredients' as like the idea of having dinner ready without having to think about it sometimes.

I did get the contents down in July as I was off work for a couple of weeks and couldn't get to the shops, but it's filled up again now. I live on my own so think I could live from it for several [STRIKE]weeks[/STRIKE] months.
