    I plan too:D

I honestly had no idea there was soooooo much in it:o

I would say a 1/3 of it was stuff I picked up in Waitrose on serious special offer, end of the day rock bottom prices, Waitrose is great for that. Then at least 1/6 of it is stuff that was on regular special offers.

I didn't think my freezer held that much:rotfl:

    Hi

I recently did this and found that 2 things helped - having the inventory and menu planning. When I did a week's menus I put an F next to anything that was in the freezer so that I didn't go out and buy new by mistake. When I used something I crossed it off the inventory.

It was quick and easy to do these things - which I think is important - and it really did help. I have loads of room for my home grown stuff now :j

    Hi,

I have been doing this since May, and almost got to the end.

The freezer in my side by side was full, as was the freezer in the garage which is the old half and half that the new one replaced, as well as a table top one that my mum was getting rid off at Christmas and started off as the Christmas overflow and then carried on.

In May I decided that it all had to go before a) I bought any more and/or b) the two youngest went off to university.

Well they are off in two weeks time and I have now used almost all mince, (lamb and beef), joints (lamb, beef, pork, ham), chicken, steaks, diced meats, sausages, meatballs, and fish (apart from tuna steaks that they don't really like so am going to make into Thai fishcakes this week).

I have replaced only garden peas, ice cream products and bread when it has been on offer, and some sliced meats, pate, cheese, prawns and bread that were unopened from catering for DD1s evening wedding reception last month.

This put my normal grocery shopping to approximately 25 pounds a week for bread, dairy products and fruit and veg for the last 4 months as the cupboards were also full of rice, pasta, flour etc.

It's a good feeling and I will not be spending anything like as much as I used to while they are away, which is just as well as they will need subsidising.

    Zzzz

I really want to start eating more fish. I like lemon sole but I only ever have it in a restaurant, I should be more adventurous with fish.

    I always meal plan:D
I pull something out off the freezer in the morning & then straight into cooking the minute I get in the door.

I haven't got time in the morning to be thinking about what I want to do & when I get home I need it defrosted & ready to go.
