Store cupboard challenge

Hi there people,
I'm usually on the DFW board but I was hoping I could be accepted as a temporary member over here ?
Due to circumstances outwith my control (health) I need to become old style for the next 4 weeks or so - I'm not very good at going out at the moment.
Anyway - I have cupboards & a freezer full of food which I might need help turning into meals. I'll start the flylady next week (have to clean the house for a visitor on Tuesday so that'll be the house for the week) as I need to have a routine to make me do things. And I might need to ask other wee questions as I need to invent things rather than going out to buy things.
So can I come over here for a bit?
Thanks

Thanks for the welcome folks,
I have a wee bit of gardening to do today but will raid the cupboards in the kitchen tomorrow and may need help with the impulse buys - I know I bought bulger wheat but have no idea what to do with it - & as we have chooks I'll need to find a good recipe for a quiche (including pastry). Believe me - I'm no Nigella in the kitchen & I'll need lots of help.
But thanks againDebts 07/12/2021

Hi ClootiesMum:hello:
Of course you are welcome in Old Style! As said though, once you start, it is hard to just forget Old Style and revert to your previous ways. I hope you stick around over the longer term
So sorry to hear your health has been bad - i genuinely hope things improve for you soon :A
You mentioned inpulse buys - what I do is challenge myself not to go to the shops where possible, by having everything I need in the fridge/freezer/cupboard. I do this by being incredibly hoardy and building up supplies . If i do need to go to the shop for Milk for example, i will take only the money for milk (maybe £1extra if going to tesco in case I see good whoopsies). I will try to avoid going to the shop, so always try to think how can i replace something I need ?
Thought I would look up a few thread links for you
Meal planning - how do you do it? Might help you be more organised - plan your meals in advance, see what supplies you need and work out a budget for remaining fresh fruit and veg/milk/bread etc
Meal planning, where do you start?
Store cupboard challenge - Ie i have a bag of pasta and an egg, what can I make?!
How to survive on what's in the Store cupboard with a little money
Leftovers - use it up, don't throw it in the bin
Funnily enough I had b ulgar wheat for the first time a few weeks ago - in a salad with beans carrot and veg - with a mint dressing. It was surprisingly lovely! :j (OK, i treated myself to it from Marks and Sparks, I didn't make it!:rotfl:) Thread - bulgar wheat
Quiche ideas, recipes and questions
Eggs eggs and more eggs - to get other suggestions for your eggys! :j
Hope that is some help in the mean time - I'll merge your thread later on
Thanks:)

Thanks Zippychick - just a wee bit reading for me then?
I really should start on the egg thread as the ladies are still laying 3 a day but there are only so many ways to disguise them before you would want to go and wring a neck (or 3).
I'm away to clean out the ladies just now & will then start on my reading homework.
Thanks againDebts 07/12/2021
