Having the same problem, finally got around to having the prawn curry tonight that was planned for Friday, had to be delayed due to leftovers. And for future reference, prawn curry doesn't go well with cous-cous:rolleyes:
Tomorrow night got friends comming for dinner, weeks ago I promised them a Jambalyer, already got a pecan pie in the freezer for the occasion, got the sausages out to defrost & figured I may as well get them all out & cook as can turn the extras into something else. I fear a week of sausage based meals is comming!!Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

Aagh!
Even on Storecupboard Challenge month, I can't seem to resist impulse buys!
I'm 'allowed' to buy fresh fruit and veg, so I've gone and bought the following 'special offers' that I can't think what to do with....
A giant celeriac (I will use some with spuds to make yummy mash, but it really is giant!!)
Oyster mushrooms - need using up pretty soon, and I haven't a clue how they differ from the ordinary bung-em-in-a-spag-bol variety - any ideas?
Mini turnips - I've tried using them for mash before, but they aren't as sweet as swede - does anyone have any good uses for them??
Thanks all in advance!!
Annie
Really sorry to bump my own post, but am desperate to make my plan for next week, and need to find a way to incorporate oyster mushrooms, mini turnips and celeriac......
Would be really grateful for advice!! :T0 -
Hi Annie
Bumping your own post is totally allowed:D Don't worry about it;)
Oyster mushrooms make fab garlic mushrooms, either coat in egg & breadcrumb with dried garlic, salt & pepper in the breadcrumb mix or else toss in melted butter, fresh garlic & pepper & fry. Great with pizza, salad or with dipping sauce as a starter.
Don't know about celaric or mini turnips though? And there's nothing on them in the mega-index thread!!! Surely someone must know somethign tasty to do with them?Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

Ooh, thanks Lillibet - I'll have garlic mushrooms for tea tomorrow!
Hopefully others can help with the turnips and celeriac - or I'll get searching that mega-index again!

Mini turnips make a great veg accompaniment if you boil them until tender then drain and add some sugar to caramelise on them quickly unti they're golden brown. Sweetens them up and makes them moreish.0

Mmm, thanks snoozer!0

Sardines on toast! Yum. Great snack and if you have some salad all the better, but not needed. Or you could make a pate. Don't have a recipe, sorry - look on the web for a pate recipe and adapt. Good luck!TW0906Blue

Having read through all 16 pages i certanly got some ideas what to do with my stuff in the cupboard.
Here is two of my suggestions.
Boil some rice, drain it and put it in an ovenproof dish.
Put a can/tin of ravioli (or two) on top
Grate some cheese and sprinkle on the ravioli
In the oven for approx 20min (til cheese is getting golden brown)
on gas mark 6.
My dad used to make this for us when I was a child. Now I do it for my kids.
It might sound strange to mix pasta and rice put it is actually quite nice.
Second thing,
If you got leftover bolognese and dont know what to do with it.
Toast some bread on one side under the grill.
Spread a nice layer of warmed up bolognese on top
Sprinkle greated cheese on top and then back under the grill til melted
(you can even add a fried egg on top and then add the cheese, my OH likes it that way)0 -

I did something similar with left over bolognese, using ciabattas which i got marked down in Asda. Split in half and toast the bottom side lightly, turn over, spread on the bolognese and top with cheese. Then grill until golden.
Tonight was spanish omelette and beans for us - frozen onions and peppers, tinned new potatoes, eggs and cheese - all things i had in except for the cheese which i had to go next door to borrow lol

Ok, I've got loads of dried pasta, cous-cous, lasagne, tinned mackeral, tuna, sweetcorn, quionoa, frozen haddock and prawns in the freezer - any ideas ?(I'm not a very imaginative cook!)0
