You can make some pizzas using the pitta breads or bread rolls, tomatoes, chicken and cheese on top and then stick them under the grill
You could try making a risotto style dish with the rice, peas, stock, bacon and cream
Chilli and rice with the mince beef (split it down first into 3-4 portions) with the butter beans, kidney beans and tinned tomatoes, just buy some chilli powder which shouldn't cost much
Jacket spuds with beans, leftover chilli, cottage cheese
Make a pastryless quiche with the salmon, broccoli, and eggs, add in a bit of onion and pepper and have this with some baked beans and potato wedges roasted in the oven.
Loads of ideas on here should keep you going!!!Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
i was busy today getting my UCAS application in order so for 'brunch' i used up a sachet of smash and made it cheesy by finally using some bisto cheese sauce mix i've had for yonks. i initially put some of it in the smash mix but couldn't taste it so instead i made up some cheese sauce and mixed it into the smash when it was almost but not quite 'wet' enough and it made it a lovely creamy texture and a cheesy taste. i also sprinkled in garlic granules and a healthy dose of wholegrain mustard from my huge container and it was actully very scrummy!
later for dinner i steamed some old white cabbage and aging savoy cabbage then when it was 'tender crisp' i sauteed it with sthe remains of a package cooking bacon.
next i sauteed the last of my ancient onions, some frozen sweetcorn, the remainders of a bag of frozen fine beans (chopped into smallish pieces) and some sliced sundried tomato in the olive oil from the tomatoes. i also made up more smash (wee one said she was in the mood for more tatties!) that i had seasoned well with cumin, salt and some texas bba seasoning mix. i mixed the veg and the mash together then added in some flour before realising i was out of eggs
feeling hopeful i poured the remaining dregs of the tomato flavoured olive oil into the frying pan and tried to make patties but they didn't stick, so deciding i could still make it taste good even if it didn't look good i stuck all of the mash mix into the frying pan and fried it til it soaked up the rest of the oil (not a low fat meat!) then i spread this over a greased baking pan and covered it with the grated tiny bit of cheese i had left and left it in the oven to get bubbly and browned (about 20 min)
i loved the mash mix and the cabbage and bacon was nice. the wee one said the mash was so so but she's now pronounced her love of teh cabbage so we shall be having it like that more often so i'd say that was a hit AND i used up a bunch of stuff that's been sitting around for far too long :T0 -

Is that an opened bottle, skaps? If so, I find it's good for drinking for about 2 - 3 days in the fridge if you seal it again, and OK for cooking for another few days after that.
You can use it all sorts of things in cooking, but my favourite is to add it to a white sauce to go with chicken: I usually do this with bacon, mushrooms and a pinch of dried tarragon -. (Hmm, I haven't had that in ages - I must cook that again soon.)Back after a very long break!0 -
Thanks ive sealed the bottle but have had it longer than a few days more like a few weeks. Better chuck it away then. ThanksMFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0

Before you do, I'd give it a sniff and maybe taste a little bit - it might still be OK for cooking, even if you wouldn't want to drink it. If it tastes really nasty then yes - chuck it!
BTW, Confuzzled - I've been to say how impressed I am with some of the meals you've come up with from your storecupboard. I thought I was pretty inventive, but I've never come up with anything as imaginative and tasty-sounding as some of the things you've posted recently. :T
I think I've done pretty well on the use-up front recently, though. I've used some Chinese-style pork kebabs which have been sitting in the freezer since last summer, with a portion of fried rice from my local Chinese takeaway that I froze as I couldn't eat it all at the time, and made a really good curry from some korma paste that's been in the fridge for months, a block of coconut cream that's been in the cupboard for longer than I'd like to admit (it came with me from my previous flat when I moved at the start of last year, which gives you a clue...), the salvageable bits of a rather furry aubergine, and a couple of handfuls of lentils. It was absolutely delicious, which is a shame as I doubt I'll ever be able to recreate it!
I've now got a huge order coming from Tesco's this afternoon to refill my freezer and cupboards: with my weekly fruit and veg box delivery, it should mean I won't have to do any shopping except milk and cat food for the next month or so. Sounds good to me!Back after a very long break!0 -

There was thread yesterday abot ways to cook pork, and someone posted a recipe for pork in cider, which sounded rather tasty. If you fancy something sweet, I'll dig out my dad's recipe for cider apple cake: I posted it on the forum a few months ago and everyone who tried it agreed with me that it's a really good cake!Back after a very long break!0
