Hi I have been given lots, and I mean lots (two carrier bags full) of eating apples. They are very nice, but as I live alone I will be eating them for weeks at this rate .I am looking for a nice applecake recipe if anyone has one.At the moment they are being stored in my conservatory which is cool so they won't go off as they might indoors. Also Confuzzled Have you got a coffee cake recipe that I saw you said you made.I used to have a lovely one that an Autrian friend gave me years ago but I lost it when I moved house .
Cheers JackieO0 -
Managed to finish a box of fish fingers yesterday as we had fish finger sandwiches for lunch.
Meal plan for today has gone out of the window as I have a meeting tonight, so will need to use something out of stores tonight and have the fish pie tomorrow - depends on how much time I have when I get home...
Didn't do the crumble as OH's mum had already bought something for dessert. Will try again next weekend...
Not the best start to the week, but will carry on and see what I can use up.
Had a look in my cupboard yesterday and there are a few things that have been there for a while... got some ideas, but will post a list of the stuff later in the week for input from you lovely people...Mortgage Free x 1 03.11.2012 - House rented out Feb 2016

I dont have an apple cake recipe...
But I sometimes make up apple crumbles, in the little tin foil trays, cook them, then freeze them.
They turn out well.0 -

Im so glad you asked this Jackie, as I had a thought about Dutch Apple cake which I scoffed loads of when I visited holland. Im not a apple fan overly, but this was divine.
Im thrilled to see ive got everything in for this, so Im giving it a stab tonight:beer:
The good thing about doing storecupboard and youve just been shoping is that you have so many possibilities. I think im going to roast the chicken & make a spinach chicken & mushroom lasagne
Does anyone buy loads of random struff like me?
On my using up list over the next few weeks I aim to use
Dumpling mix
Cherries in Syrup
Rib marinade ( i bought the ribs for this)
Mole sauce
Carribbean orange marinade
WrapsWhy do I buy this stuff!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
For lunch I had pasta bake. For tea we've shared 2 large slices of HM quiche between the 3 of us (HG leek and tomato, and broccoli and Stilton). I've taken out half a can of coconut milk and the end of a jar of Thai curry paste. I'll add a bag of Quorn pieces for tomorrow's supper.Penny - have I ever told you how much I envy you your stock of hm sausages? It's probably a good thing I don't have any, though - I'd never eat anything else!
:T That's part of the reason I need to clear the freezerOur piggie will be in the freezer early in December, so I need space for more HM Gloucester Old Spot sausages

Mole sauce???
If you have any chicken you could marinade it in the carribean stuff add a littel mayo and salad and use the wraps up with those?
I have some leftover chicken, still a tinsy bit evaporated milk and for some reason a drop (literally) of sherry which will all be used on tea today.
Will sautee the chicken in butter with onion, add pepper, evaporated milk and sherry until bubbles and then serve with fried potatoes
Then trying these for dessert as mum-in-law gave us some dates and we have maple syrup that has gone out of date in cupboard.

¼ bag frozen diced onion
1 tub passata
3 tins toms – no more left:eek:
2 tins soup
Jar puntanesca sauce
Last bit of desiccated coconut
½ big bar milk chocolate
2 squishy oranges
5 eggs about to go ood
.
you know, maybe i shouldn't read the forum postings when i've had a wee tipple... in a bid to use up some 'fake bailey's' i got from lidl (the alcohol taste is far stronger than bailey's, not as smooth so i don't like it on it's own) i made some coffee and added it in, tastes great but i think it's affecting my judgement as i was reading your post above and thought you'd made a recipe using the list here as the ingredients
sounded ok til you got to the chocolate, squishy oranges and eggs :rotfl:
ok don't mind me, back to the very rare drink (i count my units per month not day or week if that tells you anything!) oh well least i'm a cheap date as far as drinks go0 -
