Hmm.. I'm not that good at this but I'd maybe use the creme fraiche, carrots, peppers, spring onion and leek in a curry - do you have curry powder?

Or grated carrot, gen lettuce, pepper and spring onion as a salad, with little dollops of quark dotted around it?

How would dollops of quark and spicy cous cous sound? (Can you tell I love quark? :rotfl:)

The half bag of stir fry to have a stir fry with, lol

The cabbage I'd try and freeze as I'm not good with cabbage other that with a Sunday roast, and I'm not sure about the grapefruit either, sorry

    Big Bags of Tortillas

    Hiya
I was given a couple of big bags of tortilla crisps and would like to take a couple of handfulls to work each day for myself and Mr Shortie but I have no idea how to keep them fresh outside of the crisp bag? I tried it after Christmas when we were trying to use up the snack bits and popped some tortillas in a tuppawear box but they were soggy by lunchtime :(

    Hi All.

Im jumping on the bandwagon - I hope thats ok!

I have a larder cupboard which is chockablock with........well, Im not even entirely sure what.

I was doing really well - had inventoried (sp?) my larder cupboard, my food cupboards, which are full of herbs, spices, staples etc etc, both of my freezers - and for some reason, I havent kept up with it.

I havent been crossing off what Id been using and whats worse......is Ive been going shopping with out a list and buying things I dont need because they are on special offer!!!!!

There is too much stuff to think about pulling it all out and redoing inventorys and meal plans - so Im going to start compiling meals and just making it up as I go and clearing them out!!

    Wish me luck!!

Im off to go back and try to read some of the thread and see what you have managed to put together from your own cupboards, Im sure I will have some of the ingredients and find some inspiration!

    Thanks all x x

I am so bad, I got really close to emptying the chest freezer, which would have allowed me to swap one of the other freezers contents across and defrost them, but went into Asda yet and bought so much whoopsie stuff they are all full to bursting again!:o:o:o
Well off to start again then. :D

:rotfl:See that's what happens here too! But today we are going to make a start on actually eating what we have in the house rather than buying more bargains! I have pasta and rice all over the place, yes friends do think I'm bonkers :o but hey, it was on offer and we use loads of the stuff!

Off to investigate the freezer and see what the kids can have for dinner tonight, meal plan will need redoing I think, but I must start to use all this food! I think we might be playing Ready Steady Cook throughout half term! :D;)

I have decided to throw a huge BBQ for friends on Monday (weather permitting) that way I can empty the contents of at least one freezer and a considerable amount out of the other.

I have decided my problem is that I actually enjoy getting the bargains, I feel like I am beating Asda when I find a load of meat whoopsie and I have to buy it.

What can I say I obviously need help!:o:o:o

BUt this way I get a nice party and the ability to empty freezers, defrost and then (the bit i am looking forward to..) filling them back up!!:rotfl:

I am totally skint until tomoorw so here is what we are having tonight.
    Egg noodles
King prawns (happily defrosting as we speak) fried with garlic and then a touch off chicken tonight spanish chicken sauce added with some frozen sliced peppers and a half a tin of sweetcorn added.
It sounds good so hopefully it will be lush. The poor old prawns have been in the freezer for over a year, I only got them because they were on offer in Lidl, I knew they would come in handy lol! x

    I am getting there!

After we have had tea tonight of cheap £1 lidl ready meal curry and 1/2 pack starters, and some garlic bread with tomorrows HM pizza, we will be getting to the bottom of it!

    But what to do then?

Do I try and shop week to week, strict menu plan and only buy what I need, or as I swap from supermarket to supermarket do I pick up cheap offers and fill it back up?

It might be interesting to see what a proper weekly shop costs.
