My money is on the Athlon Machine. It also has better graphics, not by much to be fair, more memory and double the storage space. The tv card and wireless can be bought for about £15 each as usb devices.

Decision made. I'm going for this one.
    One last question:
Could you or someone else post a link to the usb devices you mention?

    Thanks all for the help.

    Google's my friend.

I suppose it's this sort of thing:

The more expensive Intel machine had a built in Wireless card for linking wirelessly to a router in your house. It isn't for the keyboard. If your broadband plugs directly into your PC anyway it is irelevant.
As far as the TV card the previous post of www.kenable.co.uk/product_info.php?referer=froogle&products_id=1435 is a viable option.
Pop into somewhere like John Lewis and see if they have these models in stock, they will come with a 2 year guarantee from there and they may do a deal on the USB TV adapter :)

    Need some more help guys.
Am just connecting it up and the old firewall I used ( sygate) and AV ( avast) don't seem compatible with this version of windows.
    What should I do?

Avast seem to suggest that it is compatible.

    Any error message?

Yes a long list for Avast and sygate just came up with 'some incompatibility issues'.

Could it be anything to do with fact it's 64 not 32 bit. I read last time I was on this forum that 32 is less problematic.

As I was loading up I was offered a free trial of Norton but I ignored it knowing I had Sygate and Avast exe files on my flash drive.
Perhaps I should go with that at least until I find my feet and then deinstall it?

Actually maybe I was panicking for nothing:
'system and security' 'action center' says that windows firewall is actively protecting the computer and 'norton internet security reports that it is up to date and virus scanning is on' so not sure what the norton message I ignored was then.

Installed firewall programs says Windows on and NIS off.
    Safe to go online then?

Windows 7 will take a bit of getting used to after XP.
