Good afternoon all:D
Didn't manage to get on yesterday, and the day's half over today, where does the time fly to?
kiwichick, Happy Birthday, it would be great to see you posting here again
Belated birthday wishes to Hester, hope hubby enjoyed it
PP condolences on your loss. I hope DH manages to make the most of the time left with his Dad.
Well DH is still DIYing, creating lots of mess, and as it's all loftwork there won't really be anything to show for it. Never mind, he might even let me store some [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] treasures up there afterwards
I need to make a quiche in a bit, got some bacon rashers need using so if I do that today, that's lunches sorted for a couple of days or so. Tonight we're having some lovely rose veal with roasted smashed new potatoes and assorted veggies ( that's code for I'm not 100% sure what veggies are in the fridge
:rotfl:) For now another fresh brewed coffee is calling me.
Enjoy the rest of the day, CM xYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -

Afternoon all,
Woke with a head cold this morning....hate having one, feel cold all over and don't want to do anything which won't work today as we have DGS2 for the day as DDs 3&4 are gone for the day....DD3 doing aerobic teaching diploma and needs 2 people with her so DD4 and a friend were volunteered for the job.
Salmon, green beans and potatoes for dinner, think I will make some kind of fruit sponge and custard i really fancy that more than dinner at present.
PenPin....hugs for you and your family.
Have done most of my shopping for the girls of the family and the grandchildren but need to sort boys now, just the 3 sons, OH and DBrother. Card list is also done and have cards, will do them some afternoon this week and then send them on 1st December, even found some stamps I forgotabout. Do know what you mean purpleivy about the moment when you say 'hang it, its Christmas'...same thought has cost me a fortune over the years!
OH has just lit the fire here so room should warm up...both radiators have been on for hours but the wind is very strong so coming through every crack in this old house....don't want to pull curtains yet as I like to get as much natural light in at this time of year as possible.
Hugs to all who are not feeling in top form for whatever reason, welcome to chocaholic.

I need to hoover all round, wipe down and clean kitchen, tidy lounge, put away clothes that were dried yesterday, clean bathroom and clear out the boot of my car which is full of random stuff! I could do with going food shopping but it can wait a few days if needed.

Tidying, hoovering, cleaning, putting away stuff is all done
haven't tackled the boot cos it's been raining loads.
Just need to wash up after lunch then I'm going to curl up and watch a DVD, maybe Love Actually, I'm in the mood for love and Christmas!

P_P - ((((HUGS)))) to you and your family. Thinking of you, and your OH.
Purpleivy and Essex-girl - ((((HUGS)))) to you both. I haven't got S.A.D. myself, but can well understand everything taking a huge effort to do, and feeling down then feeling guilty about feeling down! But you can't help feeling down, as it's the nature of the condition, so try not to feel guilty xx
mioliere - Hope your DH's cold doesn't last as long as yours did! and that you are fully recovered now.
MSD - Hope you and Tris are okay  Have you heard yet about the grant towards your new car?
Welcome to our new posters :hello:
Churchmouse - IS DH putting down a proper floor in the loft, or did it already have one? Ours is "floored" with the old doors from downstairs
Sunnygirl - Sorry to hear about DH's job, that's especially hard just before Christmas. I hope something else comes up for him soon x
Hester - Glad you enjoyed your birthday, and that that awful man has left
JackieO - So pleased for Danny! :j
thriftlady - You're doing a Nigel Slater - he said on Simple Suppers " I always seem to have leftover mash in the fridge!" which made DH and me chorus "Well, don't cook so much then!" but of course without leftover mash you couldn't make nice things like bubble and squeak
Welcome back SALOPMAN
Glad you're okay ravylesley.
Betheebee - So glad you're posting again - likewise Penelope Penguin!
(((HUGS))) to all in need of them, and  to everyone else
I haven't posted for a couple of days but have been reading. Went to M & S at Bluewater on Thursday for some new knickers - I got some of their "shorts" with a bit of lycra in the end, as I couldn't find the sort I bought last time. I had to agree when a lady about my age, also irritably searching the racks of pants, exclaimed "I do wish they wouldn't change everything!", as I'd just said the exact same thing to DH. I wanted some new socks too, but gave up as I just couldn't find them anywhere, and there's never anyone to ask! We came straight home after that as I was knackered (knickered?) with all the walking around and searching :p And I need some new pj's and found a nice pair in there last year, but this year all the ones with long sleeved jersey tops seemed to have either Pooh and Piglet or Grey Bear on the front _pale_
HHaven't been doing much OS these past few days as I've been resting. I'm making Spag Bol for dinner and will use the last of the celery in it before it gets too bendy, so that's something!
Bye for now :wave:0 -
Have tried to catch up but as I have been MiA for a while my brain can only retain posts for the last couple of days.
Just want to say ..................
MIOLIERE, Sorry to hear you have been unwell and pleased you are on the mend. By the way, I have loads of prem hats I have knitted. Must post them off, I WILL get back to knitting once I have finished DGD's patchwork quilt I should have given as a b/day prezzie in August.:o
SUNNYGIRL, Hope your MiL settles and the worry you have eases.
BITSY, I also was up 3 times during the night. DGD is teething and has a cough, I went to bed at 10.30pm. DGD woke at 12.50 (I was still awake) 3.05, 5.15 and then we got up at 5.50. Do your eyes sting as much as mine??
HARIBO, How's your Gypsy cat? cats love to play with a ball, have you got a crystal one for her/him??
REDRUBY, Breaks my heart at the thought of the LO living off crisps etc.
NIC1LOU2, I've seen that on the roundabout but can't remember where it is. I think the owners refused to sell to a large company who wanted to build there.
PIPPA S. I wish I could get those bibs but the nearest Poundland is 35mns. drive from us. Mmmm, thinks!!!! I could dye all bibs orange.
PURPLE IVY, OMG you have done so much.... I'm worn out just reading your list.
CHOCOHOLIC, :hello:Hi and welcome, this is a great place to visit, pull up a chair and we'll pour you a cuppa. (or something with ice)
PEN-PIN, Mythoughts and prayers are with you and yours.
SMOKY, Luv'n'stuff to you and LO's. x :A0 -
Thanks everyone! We really appreciate all the kindness.
2 of my friends came over this afternoon and we spent the time hugging, crying and chatting. Grief is such a strange feeling. It's times like this when you appreciate what you have and dont care about what you havent.
I must really work on mine and mums relationship!
