Good morning all. Shouldn't have posted when I was feeling miserable last night. Thanks for kind wishes. As I said, I feel guilty moaning when I have a non life threatening, self-limiting condition. I get very cross with myself as well, because I'm such a 'do-er', capable person for much of the year.

As reported last night I have new mince pie tins and swiss roll pan. I decided to go to the cupboard and bin the equivalent. I must have passed warping tray to dd to take to uni and also a bun tray as I didn't seem to have much in there. One really old knackered tin with round bottoms, no good for buns or mincepies. It's gone out any way. gotta go!

  • Morning all

I had a disturbed sleep as my next door neighbours had visiters and there was an arguement which spilled out to the communal hallway so just as I was drifting off I got woken by shouting. It all calmed down quickly and they all went out, but then I got woken round 3am by them coming home and their dog escaping! The girl neighbour did sheepishly apologise to me earlier when I saw her whilst putting the rubbish bag outside my door, so can't complain too much. Had a bit of a lie-in til 9 though so haven't lost sleep really.

The weather is being odd here. We had thunder and lighting last night. At the moment the sun is shining, but 10 mins ago it was pouring down! It's blowing a gale too.

Today is going to be a tidying and sorting out day. BM, WM and DW all went on in early hours. Washing is drying on airer. I need to hoover all round, wipe down and clean kitchen, tidy lounge, put away clothes that were dried yesterday, clean bathroom and clear out the boot of my car which is full of random stuff! I could do with going food shopping but it can wait a few days if needed.

Breakfast will be fried eggs on toast, late lunch will be stuffed peppers, roast potatoes, stuffing and veg, and maybe just a sandwich for tea.

I'm in the mood for a DVD fest so may pop one on whilst I clean.

    Have a good sunday all

  • Welcome Chocoholic110, make yourself at home, have you brought chocolate?:EasterBunI haven't got any:(

Gosh it's a horrible day here. The OH is taking the kids swimming later and visiting his parents.

I shall make some soup for lunch. Yesterday's lunch was disastrous (for me at least). I gave the family cheese on toast and I attempted to finish up the disparate collection of leftovers- some baked beans, some cold pea puree and a few cold potatoes. I heated them all up in the microwave but they were all horrible and I ended up chucking them away:eek: I really must try and cook less food.

Supper will be chicken breasts- either curry or bashed out and cooked with bacon and brandy. Think I'll make a lemon and orange jelly for the kids.

    Morning all

typing 1 handed as DD is curled up under my other arm! not sure what the weather's like as it sounds a bit nasty so i figured ignorance is bliss for a while!

Im getting there with the santa shopping at least the youngest three are nearly done and the money is there for the older 2 when they pick out what they want

I'm planning another lazyish day - my hip has really been playing up so i'm trying to rest it better if i can although this evening DH and I are going to pizza hut for tea once the kiddies are in bed which is a MS job so works out cheap if not free.

DS1 is getting ready for work and taking the car so I intend on staying in my comfies for as long as possible:D but I do have to go and make a start on the kitchen...there are worktops in there somewhere!

    Have a good day

  • Purpleivy - dont apologise, I know how you feel. My SAD has really kicked in this year - have loads of stress with work, most of the time I see the news its depressing and most of our friends and family are suffering this year in some way because of the recession. I know there are people worse off and I understand that when you know that you feel guilty about feeling so bad about something trivial iykwim and therefore that makes you feel worse.

I am really trying to get on with things - I have only done a 1/3 of my Xmas shopping when normaly I have more of less finished by now. The house hasn't been cleaned properly for weeks though is acceptable if we have visitors and I just so tired all of the time. So I have to be careful to not push myself too hard but I need to get things done too.

Anyway I must stop rambling - just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.XX

    Hello & Welcome Chocoholic110.

Just having a quick break from the ironing and some toast for brunch. Going to force myself to finish it today - horrible job.

Was cut off in mid flow, ds's trombone teacher arrived, so had his mellifluous tones for the last hour. I have now got bread rolls proving, cherry and almond cake in the oven and have hacked a couple of YS pineapples to bits. Suggested to mum we might like it done in the oven with some sponge over the top, but she said she likes it as it is. So do I, so no further effort required. Have salmon defrosting which we will have for dinner. There is tartare sauce in the fridge needs using. Salmon is too much so leftovers will be divided between the proposed salmon chowder started last weekend and in the freezer and will also make some fishcakes. DS will like that! Veg in the freezer.

As previously reported, mincepie tins need using, got some ys pastry from the freezer and an out of date jar of ys mincemeat from a couple of years ago which is well out of date, but will probably respond well to some grated brandy, whatever is in the drinks cupboard and a squeezing of a naff old orange in the fruitbowl that noone seems to want. Making a pastry case for lemon meringue pie in the Xmas hols as well. Lemons already in the freezer squeezed so it's a quick job and no ingredients to purchase. Maybe this should all be in the storecupboard challenge thread.

If I'm really going to try and stick within budget this year (let's face it, don't some of us get to Xmas and thing 'oh! hang it!) then it's important that I sit down with a pencil and paper and decide what is really required for each week's shopping. Will let you know how I get on!

Feeling a bit brighter now, but still feeling a bit anxious about going into Liverpool tonight. We have all the wrinklies with us, so too many for one car. It's really important for me to feel I've achieved something each day, so need to plan that out really.

Will go and see what the cake looks like, maybe the bread is ready to go in. Pastry might be defrosted so will get on for a bit and come back for a browse in a while.

DH just reported that tile cutting machine is bust. Another needed. Expense!

    Afternoon all,

Had an early Dinner and the sofa is calling me, so I will while away the afternoon with my crochet watching TV or maybe a film. Bought a DVD last week Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, called "The Bucket List" never heard of it before but I like both of them so we will see ;)
O and I have a Mars bar tucked away so I will settle down and have a munch at that, not quite a chocolate rabbit but yummmm :EasterBun
SunnyGirl - I know what you mean, Mum had the same problem she said it was like playing musical chairs when she first moved in:rotfl: all OK now though. She said its the best thing she has ever done and loves it there. She really surprised me by starting a Tai-Chi class early this year she is 87

Welcome chocaholic nice to see you, glad you decided to join us

OH is outside cutting some branches off the Eucalyptus tree for next doors birds, I think they are cockateel's, they use the thicker branches for perches and the birds love it.

Hope all the poorlys feel better soon, enjoy the rest of your day all

  • Afternoon Guys!

Thanks for all the lovely PM's and best wishes.

My close family member passed away this morning at 10.25. All immediate family members were there with her. Mum was there too, so am glad she managed to get a full day with them yesterday.

Have made all relevant calls as I am limited to what I can do as I live 6hrs away. It's such a sad day.

Think it has hit OH hard as he has very limited time left with his dad and it just puts things into perspective.

DD has drawn a lovely picture of a fairy in her memory which were her favourite.

    Sorry....GTG...keep blubbing
