    niddy,

    Hope your well mate ?

just out of interest, if you did a SAR to cifas, N Hunter, and the information they sent you came back as incorrect can you actually do anything about it ?

How long would information held by N Hunter effect applicaitons ?

    wayne.

What the earth is a SAR?

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-rating-credit-score#fraud It says here you would have to go to the creditor who gave the wrong info to get it corrected - so similar to the CRAs.

I understand data is held by national hunter for 6years.

Took me 2 years to get a £1500 limit, also remember this is a sub-prime card so credit increases don't happen like they would on a prime credit card....

Oh yes I know. I was talking about the Capital One card. I've got both tbe Capital One card and a Vanquis. My own bank have now given me a 'normal' credit card. Given that the loc (1k) is far more than I'll ever need would I be best off cancelling my 2 'sub-prime' cards?

    Morning Wayne/Tixy,

Ok, what happens is if you SAR CIFAS and notice anything incorrect then yes, as Tixy correctly states you need to first speak to the lender and if they refuse to remove it, then you should refer back to CIFAS who will instigate proof, i.e. request from the lender a reason of the warning, allowing you the opportunity to prove your innocence whatever.

Now, with respect to N Hunter this is totally unique, basically this records all personal elements that make up the "Personal" credit score such as salary, phone numbers, employer etc etc - this is a snapshot of the data you provide each and every time you apply. So lets say on one application to Lloyds you say you earn £20k but then you later (3mths) apply to Barclays for a loan and declare you earn £40k, this would flag an alert unless reasonable time and/or an evident change in employer was provided.

So in this case lets say you declared to Barclays that your employer was B company and you earned £40k, length of time there 2yrs - this would be evident fraud. If however you declared 3mths at the new employer, this would tally with the previous application as there was a 3mth gap between you applying.

Yes, i've just explained how to beat the system but that is why you need to remember what details you provide and ensure the dates all tally up.

The marker itself, that you'd be looking for is called "Applicant Refer" which means that any lenders that use Experian (N Hunter is only linked to EX not Eq or CC) will see this alert and probably decline you.

If you notice applicant refer anywhere on the pages then you must deal directly with N Hunter who will remove the data if they believe you. The reason being, the lender does not control this data - Experian does and therefore the only people that can remove/amend alerts is N Hunter themselves.

Hope that makes sense - if not, just ask away and i'll advise. Last year myself and Innocent interrogated both Cifas and N Hunter and learned the processes and methods pretty well... ;);)

evening guys..just wondering if anyone can answer this.. i got an equifax alert thing so checked my file and orange have completely removed all my account data from there... i am still an active customer after 10 years and am not in arrears or anything. Also checked experian and it has gone from there too

Reason i ask is my account history with orange is whats stopping me getting mainstream cards, no defaults but late payment markers 4 in total - all 1's - in last 3 years (i had an agreement with work they would pay me phone bill direct but paid late some months so i went back to invoicing work myself)

Anyway, i have gone off the point somewhat. if anyone knows why this maybe i would be thankful... I did threaten to cancel my account with them 2 weeks ago over them trying to charge me for a new sim when my old one was faulty but they sent a new sim and all was well - had a bill since and can access online account all ok
