Interesting to see that RBS still hold data of your default back in 2002....8 years ago and used that as a reason to refuse credit facilities. I would have thought that once 6 years (since default) has passed, then all's forgotten???

Maybe RBS have banned you for life?

i thought the same noah.........though i remember my iva guy tellin me years ago to try and avoid goin bac to anyone id ever bumped as banks tend to be a bit like elephants ie "never forget"...........

wanted to ask aswell, what prompted the account closzures anyway? did u ask for some kinda fancy upgrade? and they came across previous misdemeanours?

and how long was ure rbs open before they shut it?

They told me a week after i opened the accounts that they made a mistake due to my previous so i accepted it. I then checked my credit file the other week and RBS have been reporting for the accounts for a few months so i called there customer services to check if there was accounts in my name active and they agreed.

I then went into my local branch to ask for cards to be ordered and there was a note on my accounts about my past. The lady in the bank spoke to a dpt and they said if i send a copy of my credit file and a letter explaining when and how i get a defualt.

thats why i want to get the accounts up and running. Thing is the accounts were a joint savings account and a basic account so NO OD or Credit cards or cheque books
  • i see ure point im a little shoced they gave me a fancy account i mean ive still a roughly 5 year old default on my file..........i certainly wasnt expectin a cheque guarantee card i can assure u. though.........i did send in proof of my mortgage and bank statements so maybe that influenced there decision..........nationwide were the same.........im tryin to work out who to deposit all my wages in as im paid from 2 different named companys and i had been thinking to get one companys wages deposited into rbs and the others into nationwide now i might just fling them all into nationwide.........
