Out of interest how old are you now? You say "when you were 19" so I'm guessing it was a few years ago? Sadly lending attitudes were very different then. I'd probably have 3 or 4 times the credit I've got had I been a few years older! :(

And also if the default was 6+ years ago would it matter? I know CRAs are supposed to get rid of info after 6 years, does that apply to the actual company? If it does then you are basically a brand new person now (if it has been 6 years).... otherwise it seems very strange you've got through AVU!!

Am 22 now, got defaulted from natwest in March 2009 so it wasn't that long ago. I'm not sure how I managed to get the account exactly, there is no way I should have that account. Got turned down by pretty much every bank except Natwest, so it is not a CRA problem (interestingly, my natwest defaults suddenly disappeared from Experian a few months back but were still on my EQ/CC -- this would of had no affect on the decision though since natwest searched through EQ).

As for getting a credit limit increase, I'm not sure what to suggest. I think banks tend to look at limit utilisation (how close you are to your limit) as one of their factors for deciding who to give limit increases to (as well as account conduct/CAIS), but for such a small limit it is very hard to know what this should be. I kept on accidentally going over my limit since the CL was so low.

My mum had a natwest card which steadily increased from around £4000 to £15000 before she closed it. Tended to spend around £1000/month, always paid off in full and I think one payment late because she was on holiday when the bill came through. This was a few years back though, I imagine things are a bit different now.

Was your increase automatic or did you request it?

Good to see. They are still dealing with an issue I sent off to them in November lol. I sorted it myself in the meantime.

Sometimes just the threat of involving the ICO makes them bolt into action- maybe worth writting/calling to them to tell them you are involving ICO

    Afternoon all.

    Question re Capital One Progress.

I had a Capital One card back in the late 90's, I moved around address wise so much that the stuff all got lost and yes I ended up not paying it off (my fault).

Got a letter from Red Collections about 12 months back, chasing it... they were claiming something like £500, but since I sent them the statute barred letter, I've heard nothing more.

Now then, would it be worth my while applying for the Progress card, or would they still have my old info on their system, even though the debt has been sold on?

    Cheers in advance

    Vanquis limit [STRIKE]£250[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£750[/STRIKE] £1250 - bal £450. Nat West overdraft limit - £300, unused. JD Willaims limit [STRIKE]£400 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE] £600 [/STRIKE] £900 - bal £90.
