FWIW I was born here but my parents are Polish so I can see both sides of the argument. One thing to point out though is that the Poles who come over often take the jobs that nobody else wants and for less wages too. Some of my friends work in factories that were literally struggling before as they couldn't get the workers.I do get annoyed though with the ones who come over here and claim benefits asap. There should be a minimum time limit(a year/2 years?) before anyone coming here can claim benefits. Not suire what this has to do with the credit cards discussed on here but just wanted to give my opinion.

Back to the subject in hand-is £1500 the maximum credit limit that Vanquis give?I have been with them for 2 years now and got regular increases every few months but nothing now for ages.

Those jobs they take... perhaps it's true that no one wanted them 5 years ago but once the recession hit, people would gladly take any job they could get (even if it means cleaning up dog poo). People lost jobs, companies closed and benefit claimants risen so high... so if those people were asked now if they want to sweep the streets, I'm sure they'll jump at the chance.

So it's perfectly acceptable that foreign nationals are being given jobs before the British? So much so, that it is putting genuine hard working Britons in difficult situations and unable to pay bills and rent?

Is it acceptable that a single mother with 5 kids isn't being offered a bigger council house because a family of immigrants (4) has just arrived to the country and have been put at the top of the housing list?

Poor old Sally with her 5 kids is unable to work because the government won't pay for child care, so she's forced to claim benefits and live in a 2 bedroom flat, all because the money that would have been given to her is given to foreign nationals because the government deems them to need it more.

The foreign nationals are probably doing jobs that "Hard Working Britons" don't want. In my experience British people are more likely to be benefit scroungers than Eastern Europeans.

I would also like to see what you are basing your claim that immigrants are put to the top of the council house list and that "Sally" won't get her childcare paid for her on. Is it just some disgruntled people that aren't getting what they want or is there some empirical evidence?

And on another note. Why does "Sally" have 5 kids in the first place if she is unable to pay to look after them?

So what you're saying is that it is all the Eastern European's fault that some people in America made bad management decisions which led to the recession and that they had just happened to move to this country. It is hardly their fault that because there is a lack of jobs now that they are gainfully employed.

No its not their fault but if i was prime minister i would cap these number of migrants coming into briton,or wouldent of joined the EU in the first place,

No. What I'm saying is it's the Eastern European's fault because they come over here in the thousands, take the jobs when there are millions of British people unemployed and willing/looking for work.

The employers themselves are just as bad for not hiring the Britons.

And the Government carry no blame whatsoever? Just the Eastern European citizens & the people who employ them?

It's up to employers to decide who gets the jobs. :p

Whatever happened to the idea of a meritocracy where the jobs go to the people best suited for them. Have you ever considered the fact that the Eastern Europeans might be better for the jobs? Its not as if there is any financial incentive to hire them seeing as, most likely, everyone will be on minimum wage.

It's up to the Goverment to decide who enters the country to apply for the jobs. Are you suggesting that employers should openly discriminate and give preference to British born people? I trust you do know that a lot of African, Asian, Chinese, Spanish, Mexican, etc, etc are British born, so you wont mind them getting the jobs will you? LOL

Actually there's a massive difference between someone entering the country and someone born in the country. :D

Whoever told you that was talking rubbish. What possible reason would the Government have for paying half their wages. As for speaking English, I agree that people working in this country should be able to speak English.
