Mate be careful - remember your insurers do not instigate anything - you do that yourself... it has nothing to do with your insurer and will cost you nothing in excess premiums because you were not at fault.

If the other driver had admitted liability there will be no detriment to you... as for your insurer commencing a PI claim - utter nonsense - its for you to pick the best firm out there that will work for you.

I'm in the middle of an exact same thing, someone went into the wife at lights and the solicitor we used is garbage so now we've transferred to a much better one. Our insurers dont give a hoot cos it is nothing to do with them - we're claiming from him.

You will not get him for everything he has either, it is set limites and for mild whiplash don't expect anything near £2k mate.

Put it this way our car was almost written off and the wife was quite bad and she just got offered £1750 a few weeks ago - we're now considering suing the original solicitor for breaches within as this has taken nearly 2 years all for less than 2 weeks pay! Its a bloody insult.

Point is, don;t expect too much cos you will not get it. You pick the best solicitor firm for you - friendly advice, forget the big names - you're just another number to them as they deal with thousands of claims and just want a payout at the end. Pick a smaller firm who will invest time in the case and fight for you - as a person.

That's what we've now done and the difference in 3 weeks is already showing... they are now counter-arguing the original offer as derogatory!

    Good luck anyway....

Well the solicitors have actually called and are sending out some documents.

I'm speaking to my mums solicitor next week to get some advice. She has been with him for some years and is really good at what he does so he'll point me in the right direction. :D

The garage has been up today to give me estimates (insurance company wanted them) and they've stated that the car is a total loss. They also mentioned that there's a great chance I'll get more money back than what I paid for it, purely because the milage is so low.

Time will tell. A long time I hope... the courtesy car is AMAZING! I'm truly in love with it.

Phone them up again and insist on cancellation.

Mate you're missing the point here - forget family solicitors - you need a Personal Injury Lawyer... its a specialised field and you get one bite at the cherry! lol

I'm only giving you my advice, as we've just been through the exact same process and learned from our mistakes - trust me lol... :p

Best of luck whatever you do... ;)
