I agree lol.
However I don't think I could afford to buy another car and insure it (insurance is in excess of £1000 because I'm a new driver) so the only way I'd get back on the road is if I get as much money out of this situation as I can. I spent all of my savings getting on the road just for some idiot so ruin it all for me.
That being said, my insurance company legal team has already started a claim for personal injury. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
hi Guys
I have came on this morning to thank you to you all.
I applied for a Sygma Silver Card just over a week ago. I discovered yesterday I had been accepted when it arrived in the post with a 2000 pound limit and at 16.9%. I would have never known about Sygma if I didn't visit this thread! All your success stories encouraged me to apply so thank you!
My issues were never to do with defaults etc. Just too many searches and my sillyness! I had a spree of applications about 2+ years ago when I had no clue about credit reports etc. This meant I was only able to get a Capital One card (Start limit:250 now 750) I also had a sparse credit history and wasn't even sure if I was on the ER.
Anyway I gave up once I got the Capital One card and used it regularly to build a history ( went over my credit limit once though!) When it came time to apply for my mortgage with Nationwide I was so nervous, but we got accepted. I then thought it would be best to try for a mainstream card before we moved so I would have been on the ER at my old address for a decent amount of time. I applied for MBNA - This was declined. A lady went through the application on the phone with me and then started asking lots of questions about why I went over my limit on my current credit card. She seemed awfully angry about it actually! I then tried a couple of others and just got straight declines. I have managed to get a mobile contract with 3 but thats about it. I was frustrated because now I had loads of searches on my Experian report and kicked myself for it.
So flick forward to now. I have been so patient waiting for the ER to update on my Equifax report. I also have to say I'm not of the lowest risk either. I'm currently a Stay at Home mum (My partner works full time) and I've only stayed at my new address 5 months.
Just thought I'd let you know my situation incase anyone is in a similar situation! Thanks again guys! Really a big thanks!0 -

takes me back to when i first passed my test the biggest way ull get discounts is to say ure only driving 2000 miles a year i always said 10000 and found out 3 years later if id been saying 2000 i would of got massive discounts.......ANYWAYS just a thought do with that THOUGHT as u see fit lol
basically it comes down to there insuring u for LONGER periods due to you driving more, its really all about ure personal choice, if u think ure not gonna have accidents etc as im pretty sure if u said oh i only do 2000 miles and say you had an accident then a savvy insurer could check ure last mot to ure current miles etc and tally it up oh and when i was a young new driver PERFORMANCE DIRECT were way cheaper...0 -

Mate be careful - remember your insurers do not instigate anything - you do that yourself... it has nothing to do with your insurer and will cost you nothing in excess premiums because you were not at fault.
If the other driver had admitted liability there will be no detriment to you... as for your insurer commencing a PI claim - utter nonsense - its for you to pick the best firm out there that will work for you.
I'm in the middle of an exact same thing, someone went into the wife at lights and the solicitor we used is garbage so now we've transferred to a much better one. Our insurers dont give a hoot cos it is nothing to do with them - we're claiming from him.
You will not get him for everything he has either, it is set limites and for mild whiplash don't expect anything near £2k mate.
Put it this way our car was almost written off and the wife was quite bad and she just got offered £1750 a few weeks ago - we're now considering suing the original solicitor for breaches within as this has taken nearly 2 years all for less than 2 weeks pay! Its a bloody insult.
Point is, don;t expect too much cos you will not get it. You pick the best solicitor firm for you - friendly advice, forget the big names - you're just another number to them as they deal with thousands of claims and just want a payout at the end. Pick a smaller firm who will invest time in the case and fight for you - as a person.
That's what we've now done and the difference in 3 weeks is already showing... they are now counter-arguing the original offer as derogatory!
Good luck anyway.... :beer:2010 - year of the troll
