    Well done Sutton lad!
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Hi all, very long time lurker and first time poster here. Finally plucked up the courage to register a couple of weeks ago, and now feeling brave enough to dip my toe into this posting lark :o

Thought it only right that my first post be a big thank you to the regulars in this thread, who have been both an inspiration and encouragement for god knows how long now, despite you not knowing I was reading lol. The things you've gone through and advice you've given and received have often been invaluable.

It's been a very long slog but I'm finally starting to rebuild my credit after getting into a mess when my marriage broke down, it took me to be able to pay everything 2 salaries used to pay out, but the mess that was left to sort was frightening. I freely admit to being an ostrich at that time!

I only have a couple of things left to sort now, and will probably post here on MSE asking for advice on those if I'm brave enough.

Luckily I kept my full current account with Barclays throughout (with 2k OD, never been that high though!), so I didn't have to struggle finding a bank account like some here have, and also my Barclaycard

I've been on an SOS on applications for well over 2 years, first because I knew it would be suicidal to get into more debt while paying the last lot out, and secondly because I knew no-one would give me anything!

I have only just dipped my toe back in - a SimplyBe account (£175 starting limit), 3 Zero rolling contract (though more than happy with my O2 PAYG and bolt ons!) and Vanquis credit card with £500 limit, for credit building, not spending! Oh and also (allegedly, believe it when I see it) a Capital One card

It was reading some of your stories and experiences that encouraged me to be brave enough to go for it, so thank you all, you're bl**dy wonderful

Anyway, I've waffled enough and taken this thread off the topic of sub-prime cards, I apologise about that! So I'll shut up now ;)

Thanks again all, look forward to chatting to you properly if this courage stays with me!

    Thanks P.

I just rang them up and the limit is £1,000 and the APR is 24.9%.

So well pleased about that. :)

Seems an appropriate time to chime in with my first 'well done' post, makes a change to say/type it instead of just thinking it when reading!

    So, well done Sutton! :T

Thanks Sutton, feel like I know a lot of you already, but also feels strange to be posting at last, almost like gate crashing a cool party! :o
