when peope on here refer to 'keeping a running balance' on your current accounts (to create a good history), what would you recommend...just £1+ or £50+?

    Thanks

If your balance never drops below £50 the bank may think you can afford repayments on a £750 loan...

"Runnig Balance" typically should be three figures.

I'd say £100+. I never keep anything less than £100 in my account.

Call them up. If you ask nicely, they'll give you 0% purchase for six months if the purchase is for over £165.

BTW how long had you held your Flybe card for before applying for the Silver card?

    Oh, and well done
Cheers, had the Flybe for 6 months, are you thinking of applying?

    LOL not just yet!

Just wanting to get a feel for how long I should wait before applying (if I do, that is).

Only just got my Silver card, and TBH I'm happy with just the Barclaycard and Silver card don't know if I will apply for another in six months time...

More likely I'll be angling for Barclaycard to upgrade my account :o

You should be able to do it by asking Sygma to do a "Manual Transfer" for which they'll need Vanquis' sort code and account number, as well as the card number itself.

It's been done before but you need to be speaking to someone at Sygma who knows about / how to do a manual transfer :o

Oh by the way guys, how long does it normally take for a balance transfer to go through?

Haven't done one since I was 19 forget how long it takes and probably has changed now anyway.

£900 is showing as having left my Silver card to Barclaycard on the 19th.

Would this be the normal two to three working day as if I'd made a BACS payment from my current or can they take longer?

I always thought two to three days after the funds leave the source card, but the lady on the phone at Sygma quoted 7-10 days. Really!?

    Thanks

I doubt that it will take that long, but 19th was a Friday so depending the time of the transfer it might have been processed only today, so expect it to be done by Thursday/ Friday at the latest (Sygma is a bit slow)!!
