Hi everyone
been reading and following this thread and how to get back on the credit ladder since July last year.
Want to thank you all for helping me get back to some sort of credit worthyness since then.
My story is/was went bankrupt end of March 2004. I didn't hadn't done anything with my credit files untill three weeks ago. In July I applied for and got Vanquis limit £250 after 4 mths went to £500 and has just gone to £1250. I also applied for JDW account started on £125 again in July and by Dec was at £1300 limit and min payments reduced by a third.
After finally writing to my past creditors I have only one default still outstanding and unsettled due to come of at worst case senorio in April. One settled default due to come of on the 23rd March and since this week my bankruptcy has gone already, two wks early.
Yesterday Empire accepted me for a credit account with a £600 limit. I had/have oedered goods and paid cash for items with very three times, Dec,Jan & Feb and I searched me each time and not given me an account. So was amazed at this acceptance. And the week before 02 refused me a sim only deal.
I only have a step account what are my chances of getting a better bank account?
Where sould I be looking now to strengthen my position.
Many thanks for any pointers

I remember reading on here that having the Halifax Easycash account won't make any positive difference to me....does that mean I can stick all betting through that and it won't have a negative impact either? Apart from credit decline appeals when I guess the underwriters may look at my transaction history manually? But for automated assesments would it have any effect or not? I want to stop using my Natwest one before they take their overdraft off me!!0

On the bright side....Natwest have just put my overdraft up to £1,000...she said she'd she if she could get it approved and I could hear her typing away, then there was like a 30 second delay so I was like oh underwriters or someone have rejected it and she said it's been approved so will be available in 2 working days (it won't, it'll show up at 2am)
I know it's bad on my credit report to use it, but I think I'm not going to be getting too many cards irrespective of whether I use it or not - and in the ones I choose to appeal I can say something like having to pay rent etc means that I go into it then come back out of it when the respective finance payment comes through (or more like if...). I don't understand Natpest though... they'll give me 1k overdraft but won't give me £150 credit limit, where I HAVE to pay some every month (or they charge me stupidly high amounts and make money that way), and if I don't pay it all off they get 17% out of me.....as opposed to a 0% overdraft that I'm going to keep until something stupid like 2015 if I get onto my new course!0 -
it.s a non Scoring account so it wont stop you getting any Halifax cards0

Ah good, I still can't believe they rejected me for a reward current account though, muppets. Well I find it disgraceful that anyone can be rejected for a current account if they haven't had past issues but hey...that's how the system appears to work. I might go to Nigeria, my spate of spam emails has led me to think that any Tom, !!!!!! and Harry can get an account over there!!
I'm amazed at my 2 from Natpest, A&L & 3 sim zero though0 -
Hi everyone!
I know I don't participate a lot here, but today have good news. Just received the PIN for my new Capital One classic, my second credit card after Aqua. Also received a letter from Barclaycard and I have been provisionally approved for the Initial. They need to see bank statements and so on.
I hate Experian. Each and every time I apply for my credit report they write asking for a photocopy of my passport. I do not have a passport, so I send my driving licence and bank and credit card statements. Yet they say no, they want to see my passport. I'm fed up and this time will write to the ICO.
By the way, I am a brand new daddy of a pretty baby girl. :j
