I'll just wait until I get confirmation in the post. Am just worried they do an AVU thing.

It is surprising that Coventry may have given me one but HSBC, Alliance, Santander, Barclays and Cyprus said no!

They do not have AVU! However they are like Halifax in that they allocate everyone an account number, then if they decline you it gets cancelled. They would not send the online/phone security form without offering the account.

Ring and say you want an update on your application, they will confirm it is open and card will be with you in the next 3 days - pin will follow a day later.

Did you see I edited my last post - described the card to you...

    well done!

p.s. Coventry score higher than HSBC! Beat that then!

HSBC decline anyone who has defaults / CCJs on their credit file irrespective of the rest, even if it's a single 5 1/2 year old default amidst a plethora of perfectly run accounts... As my mother found out to her dismay last year.

    Afternoon folks,

Just to let you know that Vanquis increased my CL to £750 today, from £250.
I’ve had the card 3 years but went over limit 13months ago.
Rate is still about 50% though – bummer.

As I mentioned previously, Barclaycard also raised my CL last month (£1020 from £510) so I guess things are looking up.

Capital One still £200, lol. Destined to stay at that level forever I think.

Just waiting on my Barclays Account to start generating pre-approved offers, I’ve only been using it properly for two months so fingers crossed they’ll come soon!

    What happen with your uni?
Despite being "accepted" (I better get that in writing actually....) on a new course after a meeting with the head of the new department yesterday, the other departments at uni don't want to play along and say it's not possible. Basically in the end the only option was to suspend myself and then transfer after the summer when I'm reactivated - but doing that I probably won't get my loans etc (I know people have been kicked off and still got it, so it really depends, got to wait ages and find out though because our payment date is ages away). I certainly won't be getting 1 of my bursary payments, the other bursary is through SLC so I may still get that

Oh and me suspending myself has to be authorised, so I put in the request and stated that I want to transfer in September as the reason - can't see them authorising it, should find out Monday.... If they don't authorise it then I'm getting thrown off my old course in a few days/weeks anyway (hence why internal transfer wouldn't work) so will have to go through UCAS again.... Even if they do suspend me, it's a possibility that they could still throw me off as well, so I'm going to get in writing that when I'm reactivated I'll be allowed to transfer to the new course (subject to HOD's approval), then I'll get in writing that the HOD said he'd take me....

And despite all that, I could be going on 2 holidays in the summer :rotfl:. Trying to get a job but there are like none around here, I know a girl in 2nd year who's been looking since January and applied for literally everything, only got one yesterday.... Even all 10+ McDonalds/KFC etc have no jobs at the moment . Just put some matched bets on, but even if the one that's playing now is successful that's only a tenner....it'll do though! Want to aim for about 25 a day, but Fri/Sat/Sun are the main days so need a bit more than £10 off today really....

Oh and I just got an alert from Equifax, Barclaycard searched me last week, so the way I got round them not finding my address appears to have worked

    Afternoon all

Quick hypothetical question - I've just paid off a Visa account that was passed to a DCA a few years ago after I struggled to find work after graduating (I paid roughly 65% of the outstanding balance). I'm told that my credit report should be updated within 2-3 weeks.

How long should I wait before applying for poor credit history CCs again? I have a registered default from 2006 (should have been issued in 2004, my bank was somewhat slow :o) I was thinking either 3-6 months might be a reasonable time?

I work f-t earning a decent wage, am on the electoral register, have been at my current address for about 2 years and don't have any other negative credit history that I know of...

No particular urge/need to use credit (so the APR isn't really an issue), just want to get back on the credit history pony :rotfl:

I have tried to copy the pictures into here without success! I am using Windows Photo Viewer after card has been scanned so could anyone give me some tips how to paste the photos onto the forums!

    It is JPEG image format.

    Thanks

according to the info Never in doubt told me, and trust me he is well right on these things, it tkes 6 years for a default/CCJ to be cleared off the file

I know that, but I believe that lenders such as Vanquis and Cap One will still accept applications from people who have had defaults in the past...
