45 of her majesty's english pounds mate....expected them to cancel it to be honest, but it just says 'awaiting despatch' - but I know they have almost sold out....:D
I saw it for £37.50 as I passed Debenhams yesterday. They don't sell long sleeve and neither do JDW....

I'd pay slightly more to get it on credit, because I pay JDW with my credit card, so it would be on credit for a hell of a long time....but as they don't sell long sleeve that's not happening

26th Feb - applied online, printed off form and posted it with passport and bank statement

5th March - letter asking me to fill in my security details.

does this mean I have got it? I don't want to ring them and tempt fate

I don't really want to in case they ask me some questions and review their decision! I will wait and see what turns up in the post next week.

I'm hit and miss at going over my limit with Natwest....I thought it was pushing it....then this morning my bills from Nandos and the cinema showed up..... I KNEW there was something I was forgetting! I've paid last month's statement today (was going to go on Monday anyway) so hopefully it gets there before the other payments (just like the other 3 times I've gone over my limit and got away with it by doing this! :rotfl:)

Does anyone know how to get Cap1 to export to Excel? I have got all my accounts in a spreadsheet now.....because thanks to uni not playing ball I'm not going to get 2.5k+, so kind've need to account for everything now!

:rotfl: I'm going to have a look on there now...I'd be surprised if they were the cheapest though!!

Sorry, what is GSI? and is it a standard practice for them to check this GSI in all cases.
You state same applies for passport. However, does this GSI database contain info on foreign passport holders with permanent right to reside?
The reason for my last question is that i witness a drama in Old Woolwich Building Soc many years ago.
A man with a Zambian passport came in to change his address and presented his passport as ID when asked for one. But the young blonde at the counter rejected it stating 'i can't tell if this real or not cos i haven't seen one before'. We all felt this was rude as she spoke really loud to everyone's hearing.
Customer didn't bulge but insisted and pointed out the page with Home Office indefinite stamp. The blonde wasn't having it.
At this point, customer lost all cool and started cursing. Accused blonde and bank of being biased and wicked. At this stage, a senior staff appeared, calmed the man down and took him to an inner room.
Whether he succeeded or not, i do not know.

GSI is like a secure portal to the government ID checking service, in the context I refer to. It has other functions but I am referring specifically to ID Verification.

Regards to the passport, they (banks) can log-in and enter the passport number and after verifying the reason for the check, the display will show the name, address and other data relevant to the original passport that was issued. So say the one I had in the bank had a surname of Smith - however GSI stated it was Smyth, the bank would have to retain the passport - or certainly refuse the account. A cifas marker would then follow.

With respect to driving licences, the actual photocard shown on screen so they can compare it like for like (if they wanted)....

Most banks simply check the name and date of birth when using GSI....

With respect to your bank scenario, the employee should have known that for foreign passports, there is a process in place and a specialised number to call - the passport can then be verified over the phone. If in doubt, they would simply refuse the account. :D

When you get the letter asking for security - it should have a barcode with NO reference to your name/address (on the bottom tear off slip).... - then you've got the account, this is for online/phone access .

    Well done you :T:T:T

The cut off slip had a barcode and a series of numbers next to it.

If I have got it I am so damned excited! I also got a letter from HSBC today saying they couldn't give me a bank account due to "unfavourable" data. Probably my 2 defaults.

I won't believe it until I get my account details and debit card in my hand.

I'll just wait until I get confirmation in the post. Am just worried they do an AVU thing.

It is surprising that Coventry may have given me one but HSBC, Alliance, Santander, Barclays and Cyprus said no!
