  • I can answer this - sorry, I should have made it clearer in my previous discussions regards to the 2 year search period.

It specifically relates (Tesco) to 2 years Electoral Roll data so if you've been at an address for 10 years but only have 1 year showing as E/R data they will ask for additional addresses to make up the 3 years linkable history.

I'd assume in your case, your E/R data may show as less than 2 years - so say you moved there March 2007, chances are E/R never got updated until August meaning you should actually show at that address from August 07 - August 09 which is the 2 years.... is this not the case? What date does it show on your credit file?

    make sense :o

It shows me on the Electoral roll for my current address as been added on 07/2007 so 2 years would have been 07/2009 so not sure if there 2 years is correct.

Did it force you to actually add a previous address (with an *)? Thing is I only applied again a couple of weeks ago, and I moved in July 06 and show as registered from August 07 (dont ask lol) - and they didn't ask me for a previous address.....

UNLESS - the default you had in 07 affects this, maybe wait 6 months until July has passed and try again, think you'll get a better result cos then no matter what if they pull a full 2 year search / 3 year link history they won't see the default; moreso because it would be irrelevent being in the last 3 years you've been clean....

It is puzzing, but it could be that you filled it in without actually having to which may have drawn them to the default?

When I added my address and put in 2 years 11 months as I moved in here March 2007 it asked for my previous address. I went back and answered 3 years and it didnt ask for a previous address.

Ex lurker, decided to post and get involved

Im working towards a decent credit history, had some issues as a student and ended up with a ccj - drops off in may 2011

Currently have 2 hsbc full current accounts, 1 2 years old and 1 3 years old
    £3k hsbc cc
    £2k next account
    £500 c1 CC - 1 increase in the last 2 years
£250 vanquis - just applied, no real use for it just want some more 0's
Various mobile contracts over the last few years

No missed payments or defaults until last month when i setup a new car insurance policy and put gave the wrong account information out, admiral tried to take the payment and it bounced, realised my mistake and transferred money across so it went out fine when represented a few days later

Now HSBC have added a late payment marker to the account - gutted!

It seems to be a valid, rational explaination NID. Obviously from what i can recall, if there is an adverse marker (i.e missed payment) throughout the 2/3 years then Tesco would resort to a full 6 year search?

Tesco are only one as far i am aware to ask for 2 year address history...
