Hi Everyone and thanks for all your posts which made interesting reading for me.
Ok so I'm looking for advice, I seem to have problems getting credit. I have admitedly not got a squeaky clean credit reference although I ordered an equifax freebie and it was not as bad as I had imagined no ccjs, no defaults, mostly green dots with 2 late payments on my mortgage one recent ish one around a year ago. Orange PLC have 5 late/arrears payments which I am trying to get removed as I cancelled my contract and returned my phone within 14 days(distance selling regs) . I have been considering applying for National Hunter SAR data but am a little worried about giving them all my 6 years address details as they may not tally perfectly with my previous applications and I'm worried this would then add to National Hunter file anyone know anything about this please. Because of moving around and travelling alot in the past (around 3years ago) I had filled out applications giving either my mothers or my fathers addresses. I'm also self employed (3years) my income has probably varied from form to form by +- 3K and my occupation has probably changed between Landscape Gardener/Handyman/Builder. Oh the benefit of hindsight! Well I feel I've grown up a bit now hey I'm 35 but will this haunt me for years? Or can I put it right somehow?.
I'm wondering if I may have triggered some kind of fraud flags on a database somewhere as even opening a bank account seemed kinda awkward with Lloyds and HSBC although they did give me one.
I would love to take out a Mortgage and or do a balance transfer. I have been declined for credit when I applied to dabs and pc world for a measly £300 laptop.
My question at the moment is really should I worry about info I give to National Hunter being added to my file and causing me even more hassle?0 -
I think that would be a good idea mate.
Have a good day.Do you have access to your equifax credit reports? if yes then you can find out if it's a full search or not. if it's under credit searches then the search reason will also say credit search, then it's a full credit search. but if it's appearing under other seaches then it is just an id search or to comply with money laundering regulation. The equifax alert service is not very clear i find.0 -

National hunter are used by experian and equifax dont use them.
You need to obtain an experian credit report as most lenders use them. I would wait and see what is on this report first but you can write to national hunter for a copy of any information that they hold on you, if any.
hope this helps.0 -
I have a Halifax easycash, so if I was to use this for betting it wouldnt affect my Halifax rating? In that case if i took out a Natwest basic account (and used that instead of my student account) that wouldn't affect my account? Or would it still show as it's with the same lender? I would be tempted to use just Halifax, if it turns out that it won't affect me as it's not a full account, but (as Natwest proved the other night) with such big sums they can decline transactions, which could wreck things if only using 1 account...
Thanks, no I can't because I'd have to pay. The alerting thing is free with Capital One, but doesn't provide the reports. I get 2 credit reports a year, I used 1 in November and am going to use the other in June/July time, then try and stick to Jan & July for applications, I'll dispute it so should find out that way
You can order the £2 report online with both Experian and Equifax which they will post to you within 7 days.0 -

, that was the case with one of my verification things before, and I'm not at "home" at the moment (but have a redirect going), so they'd be returned which would cause all manner of problems no doubt, probably them deciding to add some kind of ID theft/fraud marker or something! I'll dispute it so should be able to find out online (as it'll be carried out on the message centre rather than post)

Thanks Plumber2009 I will write and send the £2 off to find out what's on my experian files.
I'm still a little apprehensive about giving 6years worth of my address and dates info to N Hunter, maybe I will write to them and ask what they will do with the info , see if they store that for use or if its only for the purposes of recovering my files??? Guess there is no harm in asking whether I get a reply or not will be another thing I guess.0 -
Would That mean that Halifax can access the data on my Lloyds Account even when its not mentioned on my Credit Reports?

If you've ever applied to anything that was searched by Experian then N Hunter already have a file on you. They are a Fraud Prevention Agency (of sorts) and only raise a flag if there is a mis-match of data (say on Monday you apply and say you earn £20k then apply elsewhere on Friday saying you earn £60k)..... the marker is clearly read and identified as 'Applicant Refer' which means that they (the lender) should perform additional security checks as the data you've provided does not match existing data. Usually the lender just declines the application.
In a way providing 6 years of addresses will make them fix any problems, it certainly wouldn't hinder you - they do nothing with your data other than match it to Experian credit searches.2010 - year of the troll

I wonder if anyone can help with a credit report related Q, I have posted on another thread but have had no response as yet...
I recently completed an IVA by way of full and final settlement and have set about cleaning up my credit report.
Equifax had 3 x Max Recovery Accounts (2 x Barclay card & 1 x Barclayloan) which were showing as defaulted. I wrote to Max recovery requesting that they mark the accounts as settled/satisfied, they replied very promptly and said that they would update the CRA's.
I have just checked my Equifax report online and rather than being updated as settled the accounts have disappeared off the report completely! There are other Max Recovery accounts on the report (Capital One & HBOS) which were showing as settled on the first report and have not changed.
Obviously this is positive for me ie the delinquent settled accounts not showing, but was wondering whether this is normal. Might they add the data in the future or is it a case that if it's not on there now they are unlikely to report in the future?0 -

They will come back - they usually remove them pending a major change (such as IVA) and then reinstate once they have the facts...
If its the same in a month great2010 - year of the troll
