That's surprisingly good value from them! If it had a bigger screen I'd probably get it!

LOL I had a look at the laptops on JDW for a laugh, they are so overpriced it is unbelievable. And they demanded a £400 upfront payment because it would take me over my credit limit :p

I've had a change notification from Equifax, thought it might be a search from Sainsburys/Halifax.... It's "Electoral Roll information has been added, amended, or deleted from your information."

Says "New Information" 09-10 Annual Load. What's "new". Is that because I've been added at uni? That could really screw things up.... or is it re-addition of the one at my other address? Because I was only 18 a few months ago I was added to the rolling register, so maybe the new info is because it's the first time they'd had me on the annual update there? Or it could just be new at uni, I can't tell without getting the full report (which I can't do for a few months).

I've worked out why everything is being referred too... it's not just me going crazy with searches, it's those clowns at Equifax. When I disputed that search from Natwest they added a Notice of correction (which I didn't ask for but fair enough if that's a process they have to go through). When Natwest replied saying they weren't changing it I said that Equifax should therefore delete the notice of correction... they reckon they did (replied saying it had been removed), but it's still on there months later  So I submitted another question asking for it to be deleted!

I don't even know what it says, because the guide says we get to write it, but I never wrote it, so it's probably something rubbish and generic about an invalid search.... so potential lenders are going to think I'm pretty desperate if I'm disputing 1 search!

How bad must my credit rating be?

I just got a email from Vanquis saying I "do not meet their criteria".

Yes i have one satisfied CCJ (April 2008) and am MBNA default from 5 years ago.

But I also have over 2 years of a flawless mobile phone contract, good income and a current account with a £5k overdraft limit (currently in the black by the way).

So much for trying to rebuild my credit. It does not look likely i will get any card at this rate. :o

p.s. my name at this address only got put on the electoral roll on Dec1st. It was still on at my last address that i moved from over a year ago. Relevant?

You only get added on to the Electoral roll when you fill in a form notifying the local council that you have changed address and you want to vote from that address or you fill in the Annual form that gets sent out where you can add and remove people who no longer live at your address.

If you change address for Uni this wouldn't effect the electoral roll only if you have filled in a form saying you want to vote from that address.

So I am thinking it is showing you on the electoral roll from when you registered on the rolling register before you was 18.

When we moved we did fill in the new form. Our names did not appear on the register at the new address.

So i rang the council. They said the form we filled in was now out of date as it was only valid for about 4 weeks so she sent out some another form that we completed and sent that back. She said to us on the phone that we would go on the roll at our new address from December 2009 even though we left our old address in November 2008.

She also indicated that we would have remained on the roll at our last address until we updated them with the new form.

Anyone who subscribes to CreditExpert from experian knows that this is how a search appears on their report:

    Cap1EX.jpg

Thre three times I've applied for a Cap One Classic they searched EX and EQ, and the two times my OH applied for a Cap One they searched EX and EQ, too.

Feel free to call Experian and / or Capital One if you don't believe me

Thanks :). I've just been speaking to other people, they seem pretty sure Uni registered us (as we're in halls), we all got letters from the council a few months ago confirming we'd be added, I forgot all about that. So I'm now pretty sure this new information is me being added here, can I be on both? Just wondering because if I've been removed off the original one then no wonder I'm being referred if I'm saying I've been somewhere for 4 years and they're seeing that I'm no longer on the electoral roll.......

Might have to try getting a online version of the report and pray they can verify me online now - they couldn't back in June as I hadn't "had enough credit", hopefully now they will be able to as I've got about 8 active accounts
