ebay - slow or off?

What I was pointing out was that, particularly in a sub-forum for which you are a board guide, to close down your PC for the night as soon as you realised eBay had crashed for you, too, was not, in view of your posting, the "right" thing to do – it was the wrong thing to do.
Your posting was bound to induce others to try the same solution and once you became aware, almost immediately, that it didn't work, your decision to switch off your computer, instead of telling everybody else not to waste their time, was inconsiderate.
The fact that it does not cross your mind, even now, to apologise to everyone whom you inconvenienced by that lack of consideration but instead try to dismiss the issue with a conceited jibe about your "browsing habits" illustrates your total indifference to the problems you cause other people.
If you want (which I doubt) to know how to run a board properly and considerately you should ask :A Fran and Godders :A for some pointers.

Thousands? Really? Or just you?
If, however, when she discovered, immediately after posting that information, she had re-posted that this situation was no longer so, it would have spared me – and, more importantly, several thousand others – from digging out a USB modem, logging in to Virgin by dial-up at 56K and trying in vain to use eBay through Firefox.
Her not doing so until the following morning put a lot of people to unnecessary, frustrating and and time-consuming inconvenience.
What people forget is the unseen action they initiate for many thousands of others when they post something on here.
I meant no offence to soolin but I did think it might bring home to her what she had done and make her act more with more awareness of the consequences next time. To the benefit of everybody on here.
Funny, cos the viewcount for this thread is under 1,700. I'm not sure what it was on last night, and of course that includes members not logged in but returning to the thread.
How many of them have Virgin, and how many would try such a thing?
Even if they did. So?
They tried something which didn't work, it's not the end of the world.
Now if Soolin had posted that something didn't have nuts in it or something, and then found out it did without correcting herself I might see your point.
But to be honest, no-one should rely on forum advice as being absolute anyway, and no-one should have to apologise for not being glued to MSE 24/7.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

Forgive me, I wasn't following this thread at the time, but of course I assume as soon as you figured out this method didn't work - I'm sure you posted on this thread to tell everyone else - right?
soolin's a human, just like the rest of us, maybe with a few exceptions?
pippitypipI know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here!

From a pink on the PS forums
So we might be geting some kind of remuneration after all...Hi
Did you read the announcement that mentions credits?
Yesterday, Saturday, 21 November, we experienced a technical issue that resulted in searches returning either limited or no results. We know this issue may have disrupted your business.
Our priority was to identify and fix the issue as quickly as possible, and restore full search functionality. Our teams worked around the clock to do that, with search functionality returning throughout Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
We know this is a really busy time for you as you ramp up your businesses for the Christmas season. We regret any potential impact that this technical issue may have had. We will continue to monitor site performance and ensure that the issue is fully resolved.
Rest assured that we will assess the economic impact of the problem and will compensate sellers appropriately. The mechanism and process for issuing full fee credits for affected listings will be announced over the course of the next few days.

How would that work? Unless yur ISP's Virgin you can't use their service. And if it is your ISP, why did you dig out a different modem instead of just using your normal internet settings?from digging out a USB modem, logging in to Virgin by dial-up at 56K and trying in vain to use eBay through Firefox.
Apologies for double-post
