  • hiya, thank you for your response really appreciate it.
the aerial i have bought to run upstairs cost my a fiva to be honest lol and its called 10M Premium TV/Digital/ Aerial Coaxel Cable 90db MF and it was from ebay the person i bought it from says its a good cable but that could just be a lie. and yes i have took the new tv into my living room and iv put my aerial straight into just to check if the tv was working and yes i got a picture and the picture was very good quality but when using the splitter it just wont work.
i have tried plugging my living room aerial straight into my sky box like u asked but i dont get a picture when i do that i only get a picture in my living room when the aerial in the living room is plugged directly into the tv, i spose it could be my connections but i think they are fine im so gutted about this its just my luck, when i plug my living room aerial into the sky box do i need to have a scart lead connected from my sky hd box to my tv would that make it get a picture cuz i cant understand if by plugging my main aerial into my sky box should enable me to get a picture why am i not getting the picture

Ok, lets make this a little clearer..

    From this picture..

I would have the Tv Aerial connected into the Aerial In Connection

I would connect the Tv Downstairs to the HDMI Cable

I would connect the Tv Upstairs to the RF Out 1 Connection

This would mean that the tv downstairs receives Sky only.

This would mean that the tv upstairs would receive Sky & Freeview & Normal Channels

Your first step could be to get sky working on the tv upstairs, you could remove the aerial connection from the back of the skybox and just work from the skybox. You can find the sky signal on the old analogue channels. Maybe channel 68 (default).

Once this is established, you can confirm that the skybox is connected to then to progress with the freeview, so reconnect the tv aerial.

Then try to find the freeview channels.

If you had to terminate the coax cable yourself, i would check both ends again and make sure that no inners are touching the outers etc, and its all tight and secure.

Either way, the skybox should transmit down the coax when connected to skybox.

Another idea, if the skybox is seen upstairs, but no freeview..
Sound's like a frequency clash (co-channeling) i.e the Sky box is outputing at the same rf frequency as one of the terrestrial channels...

It's easily solvable by adjusting the Sky box's frequency(it's preset at 68) to another frequency...

    To do this,

Press 'services' on the sky remote, then 4 for 'system setup, then 0-1-select in quick succession(which takes you into the installers menu) then press 4 'rf outlets' then change the frequency and scroll down to 'save new settings' and press select.

It might take a bit of trial and error to find a suitable frequency (between 21-68) that works, unless you happen to know which is your local terrestrial transmitter and which frequecies it broadcast's on.Though a good starting point is usually around the middle somewhere say in the 36-46 region as the terrestrial frequencis tend to be grouped at either the lower or higher end of the spectrum.

If you do know what your local transmitter/frequencies are then just make sure the Sky boxes RF is set to at least 2 away from any of the terrestrial frequencies.....

Oh,should probably add that once you've changed the frequency of the Sky box you'll obviosly need to re-tune your second tv .

  • your an absolute star mate i will try this and let you know how i get on thank you and i am so very grateful for ur time and effort to help me
  • hello again i have done what u said i have put my aerial into the aerial in connection and iv connected the upstairs tv to the rf 1 connection and found the sky channel on channel 68 but the picture is very fuzzy and i cant find the freeview channels on the upstairs tele

    Hi again,

Is the sky picture on the tv upstairs fuzzy when the aerial is disconnected from the skybox downstairs.?

Is it any different if you move the connection from RF1 to RF2 on the back of the skybox.

    Regards,

    Next step,

If its only fuzzy when you plug in the aerial, then you need to move the Sky RF output channel from channel 68 as stated above in Post #16 (small text).

This is easy to do downstairs on the skybox, but requires a re-tube upstairs..

    Next step (2),

If you switch the skybox into stby downstairs, with the aerial connected to the skybox. Does the freeview channels appear upstairs.?

I hope your have removed that splitter, and checked all connections made.

    Regards,
