cycle helmet

  • That's probably because (a) more children walk than cycle (b) many parents are like niall24 and make their children wear helmets when they cycle.

Suggesting that niall24 is wrong in insisting upon her son wearing a helmet when he cycles is a bit beyond the pale, don't you think? Are you a parent? Would you rather your child was less fit and alive, or cycled and had his head crushed in a collision with a car?

Do you make him wear goggles when he plays conkers and do you stop him climbing trees as well.

Imposing too many restrictions on kids takes away the innocence and enjoyment from their childhood I'm afraid.
Nature wants the human race to survive. However, it does not depend on us because we are not its only invention.

Wearing a helmet when cycling is not a restriction and does not take away innocence or enjoyment. Never heard such nonsense.

I never wore a helmet and neither did any of my friends when we were young and Ive yet to hear about any of my friends who hurt themselves seriously whilst falling from a pushbike.

Sometimes the helmets can blow over your eyes if they are not fastened properly or come loose whilst youre riding. In fact as has been said they can be more of a hinderence.

Why do you think all the best steeplejacks never wore helmets.;)

Oh, that's extensive research there. If you'd like first hand evidence of the injuries sustained by cyclists who do not wear helmets, just hang out in any London A&E and wait for people with smashed in skulls to arrive. Because of the severity of their head injuries, they usually arrive by helicopter, so I'd recommend the Royal London.

Fasten them properly, get one that fits, wont be a problem.
