hayfever sufferers should BOGOF

...and, as I've posted at least three times already on different hayfever threads, if you want Piriton, larger Boots have pots of 500 in the pharmacy for £8.50. But you have to ask for them.0

Anyone that suffers from hayfever and uses nasal spray, they have Beconase on offer in Superdrug in which it is £3.98 and it is BOGOF so it works out just under £2 each considering they are normally £5 each.
I originally went in for Naseleze which someone posted a thread on hrere as it was £2.99 for the spray but they had none left and the women told me about the Beconase offer0 -
Cool, will try Beconase out as an alternative :-)0

For those on Benadryl - the only thing that works for me is Benadryl Plus - the one with the decongestant in. I used to buy these from Boots and the like until I was in the doctors one day and doc noticed i was suffering and asked what I was taking. He then went on to give me a prescription for Benadryl Plus
I have to team these up with a nasal spray before i go to bed and i use Beconase - the only thing that works for me
Tried local honey too - apart from the fact I hate honey, it also doesnt work for me!
Im still on last years supply of Benadryl although this yr the pollen does seem to b worse than lastRe-embracing the Money Saving Way of Life after a little lapse!0 -
I've read that people suffering during the last week or so are allergic to tree pollen, as opposed to flower or grass pollen.
Its just my thoughts but surely the honey thing wont work except for people with allergies to flower pollen? It's to do with building up your resistance early in the season."Life is like a game of cards. I think the grass pollen season has already started - and that's what I tend to suffer due to, as do 95% of the population (BBC).
As for the honey remedy, AFAIK to do this correctly, honey should be taken back in winter and in the months leading up to the pollen season - so as to effectively slowly build up resistance.
I always forget however, but will endevour to remember this winter, so I can see if it makes any difference at all for next summer!0 -
student100 wrote:The two most common hayfever remedies can be bought in packs of 7 off-the-shelf or in packs of 30 over the counter (i.e. from a pharmacist but without a prescription). Unsurprisingly OTC is much cheaper. Tesco had them BOGOF for £3.49 a pack last year, looks like they do this year too, guess I'll have to stock up again...
I've tried to ask for these over the counter but all the tesco stores i've been to say they dont do them?
Has anyone else had any luck

I've just bought 60 generic Zirtek from Chemist 4 U

£1.99 including postage for 60, unbranded Zirtek. Thought I'd give them a go as I need to 'up the dosage' from the Tesco ones I've been taking for the last couple of months.
I'm mixing them with Sudafed this year as I always suffer in my sinuses/eyes/nose.
Another year, another combination!

It says £1.99 for 30 tablets so 60 would be £3.98, or am I missing something?
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -
My poor hubby is suffering terribly at the moment I sent him back to the docs yesterday and she upped his meds from 120mg to 180mg but it doesn't seem any better. He's taking Telfast (active ingredient = fexofenadine (sp?)) and some eye drops (sodium cromoglicate) which seem to make his eyes worse!
This fexofenadine doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere
It's easier to get forgiveness than to ask permission
