I took my prescription for my havfever tablets to Sainsburys (I always ask for a 2 month supply from the doc so I don't have to fork out twice) and the tablets were 10mg cetirizine. When I handed it over, she told me they were cheaper to buy over the counter at £1.99 for a month's supply!!! They weren't on the shelf though, they were in a cupboard but exactly the same stuff.0

what make is it? you said two months supply does that mean you got 60 tablets for only £1.99?
what do you mean by they are in a cupboard?0 -
I do medicine so heres some tips
cetirizine and loratadine (spelling?) are second line anti-histamines that arev fairly non-drowsy. Try and avoid chlorphenamine (very sedating!!)
If you are particularly bad and need prescription ask for desloratadine or levocetirizine, these are newer drugs with better action and less sedation.
Hope this helpsLink now removed! sorry0 -
is this a sainsbury's pharmacy till?
The cheapest normal (non offer) i've seen is 99p at asda/sainsburys for 7 tablets, 10mg loratidine or cetirizine
but 60 tabs for £2 sounds much better..0 -
Thanks! Bought a couple of packets in Boots today. I also received a free 'boots hayfever kit' containing an eye cooling mask, a packets of tissues (lol!) and money off vouchers (10% of your next purchase of hayfever products).0

An alternative and effective treatment to stop hay fever symptoms is nasaleze.
I've bought it in Morrisons supermarkets and it's available in chemists too.
If you don't like the drowsy effect some hayfever tablets can have on you, try nasaleze........it works.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
just a note too - that Boots have freebie Hayfever packs with hayfever related purchases at the mo.:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0

Not worth going to Boots for. They contain:
1 pocket pack of tissues
1 cooling eye mask
8 x 10% coupon valid only for hayfever relief products. Note that 4 of these have expired now as they have 1 week validity periods.
Boots hayfever tablet prices are high anyway, although I do get mine from there as I find that Benadryl Acrivastine (NOT the orange box saying "1-a-day") work the best. They were on 2 x 12 packs for £6.00.
The other ones don't work for me any more. I'm a serious hayfever sufferer!!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Tesco also has BOGOF on Benadryl one a day and Zirtek. Making two packs (14 tablets) for £2.99.
I remember a few years ago they used to be about £4ish a packet!0
