Well have a good day everyone and hugs to those that need them , but please not hard hugs today !!;)The original janiebaby0 -
Morning all
What a wet miserable day today. Yesterday was lovely here, had a nice walk in the sunshine to blow the cobwebs away. No chance of that today.
I couldn't get to sleep last night. Tossed and turned for ages, then slept fitfully, now I have to be up I could sleep for England :rotfl:Off to see DGS2 this morning, he's 3 todayThen home for regular visitors at lunchtime. Tonight DS3 and GF are coming for dinner, so no time for HW
:T Going to make a fish pie later with salmon, cod, haddock and prawns. Yummy!
Haribo, if you are going to join me on the naughty step bring some munchies please, I'll bring the drinkies, white or red?:D:D
Must get off, hope you have good days and ((hugs)) to all the poorly people.
Definitely do the drive there mioliere;)

janiebaby, we're not allowed to give medical advice, but please get yourself to the Doc. I have had an abcess myself, last time needed horrendously strong antibiotics because I left it too long. Hope you feel better soon. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Morning all
I had another two orders on folksy - which is nice, I need to package them up tonight to send tomorrowI have to put a thing up on my shop to say that I'm going to be away until Wednesday - I feel a bit bad doing this as it's going so well, but I hope people will be understanding. I honestly didn't think there would be any market for it
I do have to fill in my HMRC registraton forms now though - which is a bit scary and start to keep proper accounts.
I have leftover pasta for lunch - and it's leaked in my bag. I now have an absolutely sodden driving license and it's soaked some of my postage receipts. So much for being tidy
I have a report to write today, which I'm not looking forward, but I'll just stress all the time if I don't get it done. Lab is very quiet today.
My guests arrived safely - which was nice, but we didn't eat until late beacuse OH was late back from work - and he had been charged with getting the shopping on the way back  hence I'm kinda tired today. We had mushroom pasta, dough balls, roast peppers and salad - so nothing too complicated, but I can't cook pasta without pasta! They are staying in a hotel for the rest of their stay, so just one night with us.
Dinner tonight will probably be excess pasta.
A friend of mine asked me how long I would need to make a wedding cake yesterday  I mean - honestly!?... I can do it over a weekend if she wants simple (or chocolate, or a sparkly barbie castle) - but this will be complex filligree work and traditional sugar sculpture I'm sure. The attrition rate with piped sculpture is very very high and it takes ages to dry, so I normally say two months for something simple, up to four sugar flowers, longer for lifelike flowers. Still, I'm more than happy to do it, and it saves me choosing something off the registry.
ubamother - I saw three people on the bus in PJ's this morning and was very very confused - thank you for explaining! We don't have a TV, so I miss stuff like this all the time
annie - good luck for your DD
Haribo - what a good haulI think it's criminal how much stuff just gets dumped from companies (we are the same - I've rescued all sorts from the loading bay over the years).

nmlc - well done on your weight loss

Morning all :hello:
Can I join in Haribo's crafting party? Anyone passing Laundry Mountain give me a shout & pick me up
MSD: Glad to see Tris is feeling stronger, although you can tell him I'm jealous of him having snow there - living on the coast, it's rare we see any.
nmlc hope your dad's angio goes okay - I had one two years ago, luckily I was out the day after as they didn't have to sort anything whilst they were in there. I hope your Dads goes the same.
Dinner tonight I plan to get a co-op half price chicken (again!) Well, they are such good value. Already had one this week, H2B stripped the (raw) meat from it, we made pie, curry stir fry and stock and subsequently soup from the carcass:D
Not sure what to bake today, may do MSD's scone recipe from yesterday...
Nice to see you bethebee!
Have a good day everyone0 -
morning all!
didn't get round to reading or posting yesterday - did a 10 hour shift then later was too busy playing scrabble!:D
Got 11 hours to work today followed by a sleep-in so no scrabble tonight but have then got 3 days off:j:j:j
OSiness - not a great deal today - tea of the chaps is from the freezer - probably pizza. House clean and tidy and washing on the airer.
(((hugs))) to those affected by the flooding - our whole town was flooded 2 years ago 3 times so I understand the devastation it causes.
nmlc well done on the weigt loss:T
Hester - hope you enjoy today! x
annie - good luck to your DD !
Diva - glad Tris is feeling a bit better x
Haribo - hope you sleep better tonight! x(thought you might have posted pics of Aussies new hairdo;))

Morning all.
I'm another who didn't sleep very well last night and consequently feel like a zombie nowHad some bad news yesterday DH has lost is job with almost immediate effect so things are going to be tight. I have bought all the children their main christmas presents and have some money put away for their stocking fillers thankfully. My parents & MIL all get cross stitched & sewn things like aprons as they all love them. We'll manage and there are people going through so much worse so I'm concentrating on the positives. At least thanks to this forum I know how to feed us all on a budget & make savings wherever possible :A
Plans for today are the usual 2x washes, getting it all to dry upstairs, tidying, dog walking etc. I am meeting my friend at lunchtime to go to the library as I have nothing left to read & am really in the mood for an absorbing book.
Haribo I'll come crafting at your place too
Diva So glad that Tris is feeling stronger & hoping like mad that he'll be out for Thanksgiving too.
Hugs to anyone who needs one today & have a good one xxx
p.s. There's lots of 'lifting & squeezing' going on here:rotfl:

My God. Invite yourselves to Haribo's why don't you?:p:D
Aussie... If you're coming will you wear a hat? Loving the new look by the way. Do tell..... What were you describing with your hands in that photo?
Churchie... Sorry love. There will be no room on the naughty step as whenever there is glue or scissors invloved the twins usually have a monopoly on that step. The local pub has a good naughty step though
Ruby..... You can come on the condition that you don't have a bath in my house.
Morwenna, kindly leave your laundry mountain where it is.
Mioliere, can you bring me a baguette?:D
Diva... Bring your own purple paint please.
Lowsey and taplady... you're more than welcome...
See you all at my place later.
Good luck to your DD Annie.
Celyn, I thought of you as it was a lab that was moving out and dumping its stuff. There was an awful lot of expensive equipment, some still in it's packaging.
Oh Sunny, I've just seen your post.I know that you are more than able to cope but it's still rotten. Take care of yourselves. xxx
Right. I'd better get back to it. Only came on to show you all Aussie's hair. As usual she's just too shy to blow her own trumpet.
Haribo x0 -
Sunnygirl - hug for you and your DH - sorry to hear about his workHariboJunkie wrote: »Celyn, I thought of you as it was a lab that was moving out and dumping its stuff. There was an awful lot of expensive equipment, some still in it's packaging.
That's absolute craziness - some of that stuff is soo expensive. Even if they just e-mailed nearby universities, people would come and collect it which would reduced their disposal fee massively. Lab equipment that come up on ebay goes for a fortune. It costs us a couple of hundred pounds for simple stirring hotplates for example and 3 - 6K for good quality vaccum pumps - and these bits are just the basics of labware that we can't function properly without.
OH had a load of tissue culture plastics from a firm who throw them away on their expiry date. They are horribly pricy and as far as I know plastic plates don't go off?!? In our area we get a lot of short-lived start up companies and it pains me to see stuff dumped, especially when it's virtually unusedWell done for rescuing bits
