Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone :hello:

Did I beat the Purple One to it? :p:D

I have had a restless night and have all but given up on any more sleep. Tried to bore myself with updating my budget spreadsheet but it hasn't worked.
I have taken advantage of the cheap electricity though and bunged on the washer and BM.
The weather shows no sign of improvement so it will be a crafting day at home with the girls. Oh will be in the office for a while, mostly sorting out all the things he "rescued" from a skip outside his office last night. :rotfl:Seriously though, he got his hands on hundreds of pounds worth of office equipment that was just dumped.

Ended up with tuna baked potatoes last night so sausage and mash has been shunted to tonight instead. Pudding will be leftover brownies that I made today served warm with clotted cream.

Hope you all have lovely days.

Haribo x

    Morning lovely OS friends

Yes you did Haribo honey, giggle.gif however I couldn't help but notice that you forgot to put the date in the 'sticky'. :p:p:p:rotfl:
nmlc - Try not to worry too much about your dad, at least you have a date for him to go in and once he is in there you can start worrying again..
Mummysaver - Hope you feel better today, you have a lot on your plate and if you are mentally stressed it can cause bugs etc to linger longer in the body, so be nice to yourself hon.
PurpleIvy - I am sorry, I was joking about the flour but it is actually a very sensible way to get proof - the idea just made me giggle!
LoobyLou - good to see you back hon and glad you had a good time
SunnyGirl - Pleased you enjoyed them and I made them with sweetener and a famous brand of low sugar yoghurt for the same reason. I thought next time I might even add a little cinnamon to the mix too.
Hester - sorry your job is so hard at the moment hugs.gif
Lamewolf - well done on the lipgloss, I got a fantastic Rimmel mascara that way last year and I have worn it ever since and recommended it to friends cos it was so good!
Anniestar and Halight - where are you both, we miss you?

Been talking to Tristan for about half an hour and he seems stronger today which is super. He said it's started to snow and it makes him feel peaceful which can't be a bad thing. He is hoping to be out of hospital for Thanksgiving.

We have to take the hire car back today and pick ours up which messes up the whole afternoon really so not sure how OS I will be. We cooked the £10 M & S Oakham chicken and roast potatoes last night with veg so have the rest of that today plus a delicious looking trifle for dessert. Not being wine drinkers we got 2 litres of fruit juice. Was good to spend the voucher we had and that is dinner tonight sorted without any effort.

Lunch will be toasted sandwiches I think plus slices of bread pudding to eat in the car on the way to Exeter. I have some garlic to plant but it will be too dark to do any gardening by the time we get back.
To everyone who is poorly head%20cold.gif - get well soon. I hope today is the best it can be for everyone. With love, light and warm squidgy grouphug.gifto all.

    Good morning Haribo and MSD.

MSD - glad Tris is feeling stronger at the moment.

Haribo - sounds like the sort of day I would enjoy, crafting with the girls. If I could, I would come round and join in! Let's hope your DH has a constructive day with his new-found hoard!

Well, my cold is finally just about gone, so we shall definitely be attending the local Mayor's Beaujolais Nouveau evening tonight - just need to decide who's driving. I think I'll drive there, DH can drive back!

Dinner tonight will be lamb hotpot which we can have early before we go out. The lamb is really good here, with lots of cuts we don't seem to have in the UK. I bought some great stewing pieces which will be enough for four separate meals, and it cost under €3 for the lot.

Last night's dinner was even cheaper. I found some great big YS pork chops that had been reduced to 60 cents for two (about 60p!), a bargain cabbage (75 cents which is cheap for France), and, as the potatoes are all on offer at the moment, the cost of those was minimal, too. I only used half the cabbage because it was huge; the rest is in the fridge ready for bubble-and-squeak over the weekend. I think the whole meal must have worked out at around £1 for two! I also jointed a special offer chicken which has given me four meals worth of meat for around £2 so, all in all, a good day at the butcher's.

My sister was allowed home yesterday but will not know what the problem was until the test results in four weeks time. If she was here in France, she would have had the results on the same day! Anyway, I was hoping she was resting but it turned out she was on a mixed ward with some awkward patients, one of which emptied a whole bottle of handwash on my sister while she was sleeping, and another kept wandering around the ward shouting abuse at everyone. She found it really stressful, so I'm really glad she's back at home being spoiled by BIL.

Well, I'd better go and make another cuppa.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hi Mioliere - I fancy a craft day too, let's meet at Haribos :p .Your sisters ward sounds like a nightmare.... where are the nurses when these mad women are wandering around? I hope her results come through faster than expected.

Hope you enjoy the wine evening hon

  • Morning all
I went to bed at 10:30, woke up at 12:30, came downstairs til 3:30, woke up with the alarm & now I feel blerguh. Still today is a good day, because, ta da.
Hooray Hooray, he's leaving today, after today, no more shouting, swearing or lying. The lunatic is moving on, it's been a stressful few months working with a pathological liar.
Sorry, I can't remember who asked, but no I'm not one of the 7 applying for the job at the other school. The others are much better qualified than I am. I just hope one of them gets it. But even if they make the interview they will all be absent on the same day.
Cakes are made for work, 1 doz mince pies, 3 doz choc buns & a banana cake, hopefully that will be enough.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning peoples. Windy and very wet last night, thankfully we have no floods like the unfortunate people up north.
Work at 1300 today, which is fine as I have to pick kids up all night anyway,so they will be done the same time as me.
Car failed MOT, but only on one corroded brake pipe. Mechanic will replace the section on monday for cash and i get my ticket, so I should be out of pocket a small amount. His MOT is also £15 cheaper than the maximum fee, so I did OK.
Working weekend, so not much fun about here....... Cheers peoples.

    Morning all,

Boy oh boy was it hot today. I had hair appt today and all is sweet. :p:D I've only been home the last hour. After said hair foil & cut I walked to the shopping centre at midday in sweltering heat. I did have my hat on. It's so nice to walk in and feel that first blast of aircon as it hits you. I bought both boys their Christmas presents. Are you reading Ruby. :D

Santa even dropped in a new top for me. ;) Do you get a chain of clothing stores called Crossroads? They have nice clothes and not too pricey. Tea is leftovers. Not even hungry atm so probably have a late tea.

HH What a fab day for you.
HariboDon't tell me you still use the BM? :naughty::D I suppose you can keep CM company on the naughty step. :p
moiliere Have a great night out tonight.

Well think I"ll go and have a cool shower. Hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Hi Mioliere - I fancy a craft day too, let's meet at Haribos :p

    Diva.x

Ahem  count me in, Kathy you could pick me up on the way past, although my sort of crafting is to include, sampling the sloe gin, blackberry vodka, and cakie things that haribo has made for xmas :D. In fact Kathy and Diva, you could babysit, while Haribo and I have a night out

    Anyway morning all,

Rain again here, although not as bad as up north, i hope no one has been affected by the flooding. Lots more rain due this weekend too.

Work today, so a quick swipe round before I go, I have to nip to the local town later to pick up some cash for OH, may just go shoe shopping after :D.

I have finished my xmas shopping :j:j:T:T, I must admit to feeling slightly smug :D:D, I was determined to get it done early just incase we move before xmas, but its a good feeling. I have a few Birthdays before Xmas, 10 I think , but I have most of them too, just need to get something for my Bil, and twin nephews.

Chilli and rice for tea tonight, will get OH to make it, as he loves cooking that, its manly cooking apparantly, a bit like BBQ

    Ok better get on,

Hugs where needed, and Hester I hope your working life gets better now Mr Mean is leaving xx
