I really don't see what so difficult to understand "do not park within 10 metres of a junction."

This must go down as the longest post ever on MSE. Its quite clear that the OP does not believe he is in the wrong and seems to be one of those people who will never accept that he is. Maybe a stroll over to the nice people on pepipoo will get him a more rounded view.:-)
I'm not one of those people, I have friends that are and they are annoying as hell sometimes. All I wanted to do was get you to understand or even just acknoledge why I think it should have been ok to park there and not pay this fine. Yet you still wont.
Photome - The lengths of my posts have nothing to do with my arguements. The bit of that statement I don't understand is 'too close'. Do you think that 10m is the absoulute dfefinative distance between safe ad unsafe parking for all junctions. Do you believre that this should allpy to all junctions, wide thin long short on angle, tight bend etc.. all the same distance? I reality the 10m probobaly covers the worst senario.
If I had time to leave earlier and park further away then I wouldnt be in a rush would I! The only other option I would ahve had would be to not go.0 -
On the EBAY forum on MSE they have an acronym for certain people which is TSFE, which is basically Too Stupid For EBAY, I wonder what the relevant acronym would be in this case0

You clearly do not understnad the laws of parking to close to a junction and you clearly cannot manage your time well enough to be able to leave enough time to be able to park properly.
In which case you need to stop and think!
It doesnt matter how close I think you shouldnt park to a junction it is the law, and common sense tells you that you are to close and you are prob only about 4 metres from jct.
Just had to add after looking at the pic again (I still cant belive you parked there) it def looks like the car is abandoned0 -

Not only can't you park, you can't type either!
Of course it does, just like stopping distances, speed limits etc.
I can't defy the speed limit in a sportscar (based on the fact that the brakes/handling are better than a mini metro) so you can't defy the 'don't park within 10 metres of a junction' because you were in a rush!
Doesn't matter what you think about that rule, it exists and you were ticketed for ignoring it. You might not see the point in driving slowly past a school, but it doesn't mean you should put your foot down anyway.
It really isn't rocket science.

The fact that you were in a rush is not an excuse for parking dangerously. If it's so difficult to park at your university, why insist on doing so? I went to a uni which only allowed staff and disabled students to park in the car park. It was inconvenient, but guess what? I took a bus and then a train into uni. An hour's journey each way. Don't tell me you had no alternative, that's simply untrue.0 -

He was parked causing an unnecessary obstruction, hence the ticket. Had it been dangerous he would have been looking at £60 and three points. He doesn't realise how lucky he was.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Don't understand too close?
Then look here. Its states.
Every now and then a new version is published - for example, there was an update in 1999. Drivers in their millions failed to buy updated copies, despite the fact that it contained new and revised rules against which their driving performance would be judged.
Older versions of the Highway Code said 'do not park within 15 feet of a road junction'. Now, it says ten metres (over 30 feet). The distance you have to leave clear has doubled, and nobody knows because they haven't bought the new Code. And nobody cares because, of course, the rule can't possibly apply if you are only stopping to buy the paper from the corner shop, can it?
The reasons people do not buy new copies of the Highway Code are complex, but probably fall into the following categories:- Ignorance - Many people do not know that there is a new Highway Code because their memory of the last one they saw is so dim that the radically different appearance of the book in the 'New Highway Code!' bin at the bookshop fails to register.
- Arrogance - Most, if not all, drivers think they are safe and expert1, a misconception whose inaccuracy is amply demonstrated by the fact that motorists have, since the invention of the car, killed more people than all the wars fought everywhere in the world during the same period.
- Stupidity - People think that the rules which applied when they obtained their license, still apply now. Wrong. There have been large numbers of changes, major and minor. Variable speed limits, red routes, Gatsos2, Totting-Up3 and four separate types of pedestrian crossing have all appeared since the average 40-year-old passed their test.
- Idleness - It is too much effort to find out if the laws which affect you have changed.
You don't have time, well make time get your dumb !!! out of bed earlier in the morning and arrive in plenty time to park correctly.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
