GRAMMAR LESSON'S ON THIS SITE.

Options
Do any of you get angry when you post a message and someone start's correcting you on where to put your full stop's or coma's or spelling mistake's. >:(

In my opinion we come on here to post message's to give help or to ask for help. ???

We don't want to be treated like were taking an exam, as I think this will put some people off posting if they think there is a standard to keep too.
There is a standard to keep too and that is to be friendly to each other not say that we are a better speller than you or you need to get your grammar sorted, after all it's only a chat forum we don't come here to be corrected. :o

As long as you know what people are saying does it matter if you can spell better than the next person or know exactly where to put coma's and full stop's, after all alot of people post in a hurry and there are alot of typo error's but it DOES'NT matter.

So all you, think you know it alls on the grammar front - GET OFF OUR BACK'S >:(

I've seen the book you keep quoting to tell people to read, has it struck you that it could be quite offensive to some. ;)

This is the bookHERE that is suppose to sort out our language inflexion's. ;) Do we care. :P

I agree with you Pat. If i ask a question i'm asking for help and i'm grateful for receiving it, i don't care about spelling errors, punctuation etc.

I've often typed and realised i've mis-spelt something but so what - we're supposed to be helping people on here not pulling them up for their mistakes.

I actually agree with you on this Pat, at least up to a point.

As you said, I really don't think it's overly important as long as a reader can get the basis of a post.

The only time I get a bit annoyed is when people sometimes post using one really long sentance. It can actually be a paragraph long but with no commas or full stops. A post like that is really quite difficult to read. :-/

For the most part though, I don't think it's a very pleasant thing to do to pull people up about their punctuation.

It's a personal slight and not needed, IMO.

hi pat - do your comments here relate to this comment:
arrg, why is it that the people responsible for writing letters etc to customers are incapable of checking what they write for correct spelling/grammar?

    "Sky Movies' decision", maybe?
    ?

    Awwww Pat_
you shouldn't let them bother you, people can be really mean, what does it matter as long as the message is clear?
I actually mark English Lit GCSE papers and believe me some of them are unreadable,
but if I were marking your post above I'd say that even with the 20 odd mistakes it is perfectly acceptable and readable, and you're right people should get off your case and leave you to carry on your fine work on this site :)

    Warning - foul language :o;)
  • I totally agree Pat.

Just because things aren't always spelt right, or there is a lack of grammar, does not make a point or opinion any less valid.
