Without revealing anything about my personal circumstances or appearance, I do not seek compensation of any kind, but would like to report to a consumer protection body to investigate (waiting for someone to shout out that I am ashamed of my jam-jarred bespectacled greasy attributes?).
I was sent to A&E by my boss, after several burn blisters appeared on my left hand. One is large - the size of a 50p coin and has hardened into a raised growth. Thankfully the burns are only third-degree and swelling has been prevented by burn spray and hospital dressing. I am told to come back in 3 days - hopefully the growth will not be permanent.
Anyway, as I seem to be having little luck in getting some help, goodbye and thank you for your time. I hope that people with more serious injuries find the help they require, instead of strange unfounded replies.
Hi Lilsunflower. sorry to hear of your burns. Id be furious if that was me but Im sure the person who did it feels mortified too. Maybe go show and tell the place what they have done and tell then to please be more careful next time as it could be much more serious.
The treatment you received sounds standard to any minor burn (opsite spray and mepore dressing???) wether teeny tiny or 50p size so I would feel confident that your hand will be ok. They will probably redress the same way in 3 days time. If your dressing comes off..moisturise moisturise moisturise with a cream such as sudocrem.May £10 a day challenge£19.61/£310Ebay challenge...£12.61/£2000 -
As for the other replies...am I missing something?

I was told not to use sudocrem when my dd burnt her hand or any type of cream/ointment. Best to just keep area clean and use a suitable dressing. I used a clear dressing (looks like cling film), which I found it wasn't easy to apply, but my dd's burn didn't form a scab and cleared up without scarring.2017 - no clutter to be seen challenge: 72/2017

Thanks for your help it is much appreciated - I have written a letter outlining the facts and my grievance (the potential risks in passing full hot bowls directly from hand-to-hand which may injure both staff and customer). I just wanted someone to review whether this policy was in the interests of staff/consumer safety, given that it is something that can easily be rectified.
I am young(ish), able, and can cope with a third-degree burn. Luckily, it was treated quickly and is unlikely to scar. However, other customers may be more vulnerable and I would not wish this terrible experience on anyone else (maybe on the people who find the whole fiasco amusing).
Anyway, the initial response I received from Yo Sushi was:
"We serve soups like this in the vast majority of our restaurants and this is the first incident that I have encountered in my two and a half years with the company."
The staff at the restaurant were excellent and gave me prompt medical attention. I also feel badly for the person passing me the soup, as he was a victim of poor policy too. I do not blame any of the staff in the least, and just think that potentially dangerous processes than can be rectified easily should be addressed asap. If no one voices an opinion, particularly after they have been injured, I doubt it will ever be looked into.
Thanks again for everyone who has seen legitimacy in my query. I did not make a post to be controversial, but just didn't know where to write to. Have a good evening all!

I get the impression from the OP that they do.
I didn't want to assume so, given that the OP stated....' their Health & Safety officer, who claims that this is the first time it has happened'
and....'it is apparently Yo Sushi's practice '.
Those statements don't necessarily convey to me that they do serve everyone in this way.
Perhaps they do, I would just like to confirm if this was a practice carried out by every Yo Sushi branch or just this particular one and if all staff served in this way or just the person who served the OP.
Edit: just read previous post which obviously answered my question.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I'd assume that the OP would have said if she was the only one served in this way whilst everyone else got their soup in a more conventional manner.0 -

Assuming others had ordered soup at the same time of course.
Ok, leaving this here now.
Good luck with some sort of resolution OP.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Now, now. Be fair. That has to be some pretty damn hot soup! If the soup is so hot that it scalds causing blistering then something has gone wrong with that kitchen's preparation practices.
Have you ever had blisters from ... well, any food that has ever been prepared for you?
Either this person is hugely exaggerating the injuries and their hand is just a bit red or this is something that does need looking at as every customer must be getting tongue blisters from eating the soup.I've been making animations for my daughter. Tell me what you think? Search for "Where are you Pickles?" and "Pickles and the Bully" on YouTube.

Child skin is much different to adult skin. Personally if it was my hand I would use my common sense as to how bad it was and if it wasnt broken and weepy I would moisturise the skin to keep it supple and heal smoothly. Plus I can stand a bit of stinging and know not to mess with it....my boy wouldnt leave it alone if it was bugging him. Dry skin gets tight and itchy when healing.
The cling film dressings are opsite or tegaderm. The burn spray was maybe spray opsite which forms a waterproof film.
You can buy melalin dressings from boots, or poundshop do a cheaper alternative. These are supposedly none sticky to wounds (shiny side to wound)
