It won't have two analogue and one digital tuner... otherwise it would be a triple tuner. Do any machines exist that have this???
The blurb says
- Twin Tuner 80GB Personal Video Recorder with FREEVIEW
And there are guesses that this could be the Technosonic 101 rebadged that ALDI sold last year. That machine had twin digital tuners but you could only record from one (i.e. you couldn't record two programs at the same time).
As there are no details on the specific model I don't think you will get to find out the specifics until someone buys one.0 -

...but you can record one programme while time-slipping another one - which is technically recording two programmes at the same time!
However, you can't retain the time-slip recording.0 -

Thanks Arronc. I've just looked that one up...WOW it'll have to come down in price quite a bit before I can consider that one! Thanks for the info anyway.0 -
The Thomson DHD4000 (£99.99 Argos) is far better than the Tevion. The only downside to those of you who believe in storing huge numbers of recordings is the 40Gb hard disk. Not a problem to me as 20 hours is plenty. It is better to back up to DVDR if you want to keep anything. The advantages are, being able to record 2 programs at once (at the same time you can watch a previous recording if you want too) and it continously records the last 30 minutes of the channel you are watching, so you can backtrack if you wish.
I am glad I took my PVR100 back, this one works with no problems.

I bought one of these when Aldi had them at Christmas. At first it was absolutely dreadful but after two or three software upgrades it is performing very well indeed. The 80gb hard drive holds around 60 hours of video. I personally use it to record a lot of radio programmes, mostly old live concerts from BBC6, and the disc space that uses is very small (2.5 hours of radio is about 700mb). Having to clear space from the drive is good because it means you have to watch the programmes you record, not like with VHS where, if you are like me, you would record something and then forget about it. There is a recordings list with programme name, running time, date of recording etc It also tells you how much disc space you have left which is useful as some people have reported that if the disc fills up completely you lose all your stored programmes. I like to keep about 10 hours or so free. I back up stuff I want to keep to DVD which is really easy, just connect a DVD recorder with a scart lead and press play on the PVR and record on the DVD, quality of recordings is superb. Only drawback for me is that you can't take a recording to watch on another TV (unless you back it up) which is a pain now that my TV is hogged by my wife and Daughter to watch those revolting people on Big Brother.
Personally I can't reccomend these units enough and at £100 they are a bargain.

In no particular order:
Can I transfer recordings off the Hard disk to my Laptop/Desktop PC?
No. No one has discovered the HDD format. On asking Technotrend, the firmware writers said they didn't want to tell us. Also, there is no USB port
Can I replace the HDD with a bigger one (and void my warranty)?
There is anecdotal evidence to suggest it will work with a disk up to 120GB but not bigger.
Does it have X analogue/digital tuners?
It has two digital tuners, and no analogue tuners. You can only schedule recordings from one
Can I record from my DVD/SKy/Analogue TV/Zx81 on to the Box?
No
Can you tell me where I can buy a 75ohm resistor?
Yes

I just got an Inverto IDL-7000.
I think it is shorlty to go on sale in some places for £130 - twin tuner, 80GB HDD, chase play, etc. Recordings are top notch digital quality. Lots of good reviews for it as well, and i think the new model is out soon (7000-M).matched betting: £879.63

Have another look Zaphod, on my leaflet it looks like it might be PVR301 but it really is not clear enough to be sure.
