Cant get flippin mattress up the stairs??!!!

We had a new mattress delivered on Tuesday. The past 2 nights we have attempted to get it up stairs and we cant. It just wont move, its so heavy, even the delivery man couldnt believe how heavy it is and it has no flexibility so we cant sort of bend it where it needs to come under the ceiling on the stairs.

my other mattress is the same size and that was fine, its v old so has some flexibility with it.

its now stuck in the hall, i cant move around properly, what on earth do we do??

Saw and some sticky tape?:D

We had the same problem...a super king size mattress that was practically rigid. It got wedged on the stairs and we were beginning to panic a bit tbh, we had visions of having to ruin our new mattress just to get it out again.

We did eventually get it upstairs with the help of son and 2 of his mates but it was a huge struggle.

Can only suggest you try to enlist more help and if not, hope the store will take it back.

My next bed will be a zip and link. :D

Is it a spring mattress? Can you return it to the store? Maybe try a foam mattress instead? They are a lot more flexible and also lighter for those narrow stairwells.

Eeek..id'e suggest more people and go from there!! we bought a memory foam one..all rolled up nice and compact..take it upstairs (Town house so lots of stairs..king size bed and i did on my own at a push!) unpack in making sure it doesn't knock you out in the process!! and da daaa a mattrss a few hours later! I fully reccomend them if you have to send it back...oh and sooooo comfy!

well this is whats hapenning, we are panicking about what to do. i dont think the store will take it back because even before it was deliverd, i was wondering if we really needed a new mattress after all (i keep buying stuff) and phoned them and said could i cancel the order, so the answer was no

so would lose money anyway, but i bought it for my back because old one is too soft now, back has now been injured trying to manouvure this one

Well Id ring the shop anyway and say it has to be fit for purpose and if its impossible to get it upstairs to the bedroom then its not fit. Why is it so inflexible though? There should be some give in it. We got a new one a few weeks back and it took son and OH to get it up stairs, over the top of the landing banisters and we had to remove all light shades and pictures on the way! What a lark.

This won't work. The purpose of a mattress is to lie on, that's all.

Is it in polythene? If not wrap it in some, it will slide easier.

Could you switch your lounge and bedroom around and sleep downstairs?

....I await your thread on trying to get your sofa up the stairs.....
