hi shel - i replied to your other post - its awful to hear about your dress - whats happened? when are you going to go looking again?
How about we make a pact to keep this thread on page 1 for the run up to June? I always want to hear what everybody else is up to!!!
Also - lets share about our weddings - Do you have any themes? Whats your budget? show us your dress! I'm at work so i can't do pics but when i get home i'll do a wedding share post so you know what I mean!
I sat down and made a new to do list last night and have scared myself silly - there is so much on there as I am diying pretty much the whole wedding
Even if I space all the jobs out over the weeks running up to the wedding i still have at least 1 item to complete each week
Invites are big on my list at the moment - I have the a-z to complete, The inserts to print, the rsvps to design and print and the envelopes to prepare and then i'll be good to go.
Chat soon Juners - i'm off to update post 1Had a thrifty wedding 17-06-10

We are currently living in a rented flat and have all the day to day items that we need and a distinct lack of storage space! We are in the process of buying a house and so, if you would like to give a gift, vouchers for B&Q or Homebase would be greatly appreciated as we will need many home and garden items after moving. However, your presence at our wedding celebration is a great gift in itself.

I copied it off an invite to a wedding that my brother received lol.Their's was slightly different as they wanted money to do up their bathroom but the last sentence was identical and summed up what I wanted to get across; that a gift is not expected/your ticket to entry to the wedding!

I went to my local branch of Paper Mill (I think they have a website too, but in the shop you can feel how thick the different cards are and see the different grains). Really good shop - lots of example cards around the shop for inspiration.
You take an empty box and fill it with whatever A4/A5 card you want. Each box is £5. I got enough card to make 45 invites and 45 thank you cards from 3 boxes, so only £15.I'll be able to make place-cards from the off cuts as well.
Also got matching ivory envelopes which were 50 for £5 I think.
Worth buying glue from a craft shop like them as well as it'll be decent craft glue that will be strong and dry clear.
You need plenty of time to make them and patience; mine had loads of pieces of card making up each invite with the stuck on pieces and the tabs inside. Cutting them all out with a craft knife really grated after a while; got a bit depressed in the middle! But once that was done, glueing them together didn't take long and they took shape fast.0 -
Hi there all you fellow June Brides!! My date is 26th June! I am more or less sorted with everything.
I'm on a tight budget so watching the pennies closely lol!
We are getting married in a reg office at 2pm, then photo's in the beautiful ornamental gardens next door, I've asked a friend from weight watchers if she'll do the photo's as she's an amateur photographer, she's still ummin and arrring though so hopefully she'll accept, she can always use some of the photos for her portfolio, I have no problem with that. After the photo's the wedding party are going to a lovely classy looking pub which the owner said she'd cordon off part of the pub for us and do us a few nibbles, ie/ meat platter, cheese platter sausage rolls bread rolls, salads and pickles etc, she's also going to decorate the pub for us with balloons etc, this is costing us £100 for 40 guests. Then at 7pm we go down to our social club for the evening reception, it's very nicely decorated and has a large function room with a large bar, I have 200+ guests invited to the evening reception! and the catering including room hire is £850 which I think is a bargain! I am paying £300 for my disco, which is being done by an aquaintance who's discos I used to frequent when I was much younger! lol when I reminded him of this he threw in an indoor pyrotechnics display and a bubble machine for nowt! lol I have 4 bridesmaids, one of which is my daughter, the other bridesmaids have paid for their own dresses. My daughters has cost £30 off ebay! I have decided to hire my wedding dress, the prices range from £95 - £245, designer dresses too but I haven't yet had my trying on session!! Hoping to lose more weight for that one! Lost 3 stone already, need to drop at least another 2!!
Sorry guys I'm rambling!
Would love for you to add me to your list please OPXX:D
Love and luck to all my fellow June brides!! xxx0 -
