  • Hi all, hope you're not all too stressed.
My hours have gone up at work , so I'm finding it difficult to get time to get stuff sorted at the moment, but got my shoes and waiting for a tiara to come from ebay.
My dress arrived from China on Christmas Eve and its fab. just need to loose a stone to feel comfortable in it (so I don't have to breathe i all day)
Still havent booked a photograher which I'm panicing about a bit, but with me marrying on a thursday I'm sure it wont be a problem.
Just getting addresses together for invites.
  • I got the time off I needed Hurrah!!!

Hope everyone else's plans are going well!

Can anyone help me with wording the invites?
I want to put something like
"You being at the wedding is gift enough but if you would like to get us something we would like vouchers for ........"
I dont want it to sound cheeky or begging and i know a lot of people like to bring gifts

This is probably because I got my meeting with the wedding coordinator and so now can start doing rather than thinking about

Shel -that sucks! Hope the deposit wasn't too much. At least you realised now and (1) didn't pay the full cost and (2) have time to order a different one. On a side note, I saw your other thread re general chat/support. Are you on the You and Your Wedding site forums? There's a lot more general chat and support on there. People here are supportive, but it is slightly more aimed at advice. You do get some responses to general updates but not many.

Progress is being made here. Am about halfway through making the invites; hoping to pretty much finish them this weekend although we're not sending them out until March. I decided to make matching 'Thank You' cards to send out after the event. These are the invites:

Thank you cards will be same red card, "Thank You" instead of "Wedding Invitation" on the front, and this rubber stamp instead of the champagne glasses:

Inside I'm just sticking a blank rectangle of the ivory card, where we can hand write thank you notes to people after the event.

So the stationery is coming along. Making invites does wear a bit thin after the first 20 lol but it's saving us hundreds of pounds.

I think I've picked ceremony music; need to see if H2B likes it all. It's classical pieces throughout. Need to go through the registrar forms at some point and pick the wording of the ceremony. And pay their fee.

Have arranged to meet with both the florist and the cake maker on 6th March to go over actual design and what we want (only paid deposit to hold the date so far).

BMs are coming down in March for fittings (they live in Reading and Edinburgh; I'm in Essex!). Just praying their dresses come in but the shop said early Feb so hopefully OK.

My dress should be in in April - can't wait!!

Still badgering H2B to actually speak to the guys he wants to be groomsmen and ask them, so we can arrange suit hire shopping! We want to use one of the local independents rather than Moss Bros and they need a few months notice.

Think things are under control; I do keep having random panics and had my first nightmare about the wedding last week. I'm trying not to get too worked up about it; I know the day will go by in a flash; it's only about 9 hours after all! The more worked up you get the quicker it goes by so I'm trying to stay calm. Not working very well though.

We are asking for vouchers and are using the following; I really want people to feel they're not obliged to bring a gift and this was the best I could do:

We are currently living in a rented flat and have all the day to day items that we need and a distinct lack of storage space! We are in the process of buying a house and so, if you would like to give a gift, vouchers for B&Q or Homebase would be greatly appreciated as we will need many home and garden items after moving. However, your presence at our wedding celebration is a great gift in itself.

    With love, Sarah and Stephen
