18 yr old son with 16 months experience .. needs fully comp on a bmw 318ci coupe , 6 yrs old value £10k.
putting the mother & father on as well to help keep premium down.
Checked the first handful of best websites ... and best deal from Norwich Union at about £2450 !!!.. AAARRRGGGGHHHHH !!
In fairness we know first year for young lads is very dear , but does anyone have any knowledge or experience of any other insurers worth checking out ??
thanks,

 I agree!...
the best insurers for young people seem to be DirectLine, Churchill, Admiral and occasionally Elephant & Tescos.New car (not even 2months old) up for sale:-
Ford Focus Sport 1.8TDCi 5dr '06' plate
Sea Grey
2600miles
P.M for more details0 -

admiral/elephant - v good for young drivers/decent cars, swiftcover are allegedly the same, but i havent used them myself.
financial darwinism may eventually kick in - it's bloody expensive to put tyres on a decent BMW, as well as keeping it serviced etc. Running costs may force a change to a more 'typical' new driver car.if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0 -
mini one insurance from UKI they have a special deal going with BMW at the mo got mine cheaper than I could find anywhere else.

I had a group 16 car when I was 21 so I know how he feels. I got the best results from Egg and Direct Line.
Incidentally, that's a very poor choice for a first car. It's something he'll no doubt learn the hard way like I had to. Because no matter what you or anyone else says he'll never listen.0 -
Have you tried CIS Insurance. They were the cheapest when I insured for my then 18 year old. Sadly after 6weeks he managed to write the car off!0

My 18yr old has just had quote for £876 fully comp on Peugeot 306
Nationwide. She tells me that all the insurance companies will charge the boys more than the girls for the same vehicle.
(Not sure what A level she was supposed to be studying for when they found that one out lol!)0 -
as above, get a cheaper car. Anyone else thinking this kid will be posting in the debt-free wannabe forum within a few years
! Its funny how some people dont seem to learn that they cant always have what they want.

Another way to save more on car insurance and home insurance is to go through the site top cashback as currently lloydstsb are given away a referral fee of £90 for car insurance and £60 for home insurance for every policy you take out for this link, i recently did the home insurance myself, and all it cost me for £40,000 of cover was £11.17 after taking the referral into account, AMAZING!! Dont know how they can afford to do this.
