hey maybe it's a blessing in disguise. My redundancy cleared my student debt and paid for lots of treats and some even went to savings.....

Maybe this is your silver lining???

Wondering which designer outfit to wear

Which of the several cars will we use today

I could deal with those problems !!!

I'd agree with the general theme:

    1. DON'T resign
    2. Contact CAB
    3. Have they sent you a copy of the company's disciplinary procedure? Read it thoroughly - have they followed it? if not you may well have an immediate IT (industrial Tribunal) case as they have to follow thier own procedure to the letter.
    4. Have they given you the exact reason for calling the disciplinary meeting?
    5. Have they offered you the option to take someone in with you - ALWAYS do this so you have someone to take notes & to ask to adjourn if you need a break - they HAVE to allow this (again, if they don't, go straight for IT)
    6. Do you have any record of what this person has been doing to "get rid" of you? Do you have any witnesses to any of it?
    7. If they do dismiss you, you MUST lodge an appeal according to the disciplinary procedure straight away - ACAS or the IT will need to see that you have followed the procedure too.

The IT service are an online service, as are ACAS (their website is quite good).

My partner has gone through this 3 times for himself now - 2 resolved out of court at £36k total, one ongoing - and twice advised friends - 1 resulted in job reinstatement & 1 in £10k settlement. :j

Its not the end of the world if it happens - but you do have to fight it if it is wrong or they make any mistakes. :)

Just wanted to add my little words of support, afraid i can't give much advice but it seems you have that covered thanks to many great posts before mine.

Just stick it out and fight and whilst doing that start to look for what to do next maybe this will be your chance to do something you have always wanted to but never had the time.

Please let us know how it all goes.

    Good luck.

    Thanks Floss,

I have just spoken to the CAB who have given me the number for ACAS.

No they haven't sent me a copy of the disciplinary procedures or given me the exact reasons. Just got 2 vague points in a letter, no specifics given.

I can take someone with me, but my staff rep is a fellow employee.

Check what ACAS say about the disciplinary procedure issues - it may be that you will have a case for an "unlawful" (i think?) dismissal anyway.

You have a right to take someone with you - doesn't matter if they are a fellow employee. If its union rep thats even better.

Good luck & let us know how you get on. When's the meeting?

Are you sure that you do not have house insurance that covers free legal advice - sometimes you have to ask.

Even mentioning this fact can scare the life out of bullies who know that they are on shaky ground!

Sound advice form all the above posters. Have you kept a diary of events?
Definately take someone in with you - it gives you moral support in a potentially difficult situation. Good luck.. wife going through similar experience so have every sympathy

Elona, someone else has mentioned the house insurance. Must dig the policy out and find out. Unfortunately my bullies know every trick in the book, in fact they probably wrote the book !!!

Mehefin, so sorry that your wife is in the same situation. It's horrible to be accused of something I haven't done after so long in the job.

I am so glad I asked for advice on here. I had my resignation typed out because I thought I was in a hopeless situation. I have received some fantastic advice, both publicly and privately and am soooo grateful to you all.

I've just got to get through the meeting and take it from there.
