. I think if it was my money i was spending I'd be a lot less likely to buy stuff and a lot tighter, after all it would be my hard earned money!!
Look at it this way, maybe.
It IS your money you are spending. Unfortunately it is next year's money, and the year after's etc etc. Certainly enough to make me go :eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -
Slowly i'm beginning to think like that.... thanks again

I have a theory about the need to buy so many clothes, my OH does it but its not clothes with him, its "outfits", like the whole expensive sailing outfit, the ski-ing outfit, the photographers outfit etc.
Basically he's just trying to be someone he isnt, like my son used to wear a batman outfit, fireman outfit etc.
I hope you dont feel offended but I feel that as you dont have the money your family does, you like to pretend you do have by dressing the part.
£200 a month is way OTT.
How about selling some of the clothes you do have on ebay & then using only that money to buy more. £200 a month saved.

hi, hows the first weekend of not shopping gone? well done for getting some stuff back to the shops :T0

Ailsa,
It's gone really well thanks lovely!! Although I feel like a bit of a tramp - I've hardly been out the house!! Have made £78 on e-bay and am over the moon that I can put this towards the cc once it's all cleared through paypal etc....
I did miss the shopping though. Although I think half of it is wearing the nice clothes and the actual wandering around looking at stuff (obviously as well as the buying!!). What have you been up to?

when we were really hard up i didnt have any new clothes for years, my friend used to buy me knickers for birthday presents to keep me going.
the amount you have spent on clothes etc. should mean you dont need to buy any for years, and if you do have to buy i suggest ebay'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0 -
Well done at sticking to the 'no shopping' and :j to ebay money

hi bazwod - just found your diary and wanted to say well done :T- not only with posting in the first place - but also for taking what everyone has said on board. Its really hard to lay everything out there - and to read everyone's comments/advice.
You are taking steps to reduce your debts - thats what counts (and I reckon your parents would be v proud that you are taking responsibility and sorting things out yourself;))Onward and upward - with the odd step to the side

Well said :A The first steps can be the hardest, fortunately most people on here are supportive rather than negetive (after all, we've all been there
