Cat Litter - It's a minefield! - What do you buy?

Well.....WE love Okoplus - our Pixie Bob, so it turns out, loves Moonlight Pura or Catsan clumping (both really fine sandy texture). Since we gave him the option of 3 litters he uses these and not the Okoplus and has stopped weeing behind the tv and sofa!
Pah!

I mix it: Cats best & wood chip or paper recycled (not newspaper) & Aldies or Liddles if skint - best of both worlds :T0 -
Well I am now onto just using the crystals and I like it a lot (Jimmy and Charlie seem happy too). Ok, poos have to be removed quickly as they stink (a lot more than they did with ultra clumping stuff) but it's not a big deal. Once the offending poo is gone I don't notice any other smells. So I am hooked. Any ideas where I can get the biggest bag of crystals for the lowest price???0

If you change their food you should be able to get rid of the smells - Noah stinks the entire flat out on some foods, you don't know he has poo'd on the high meat/ low grain and raw foods!! He has also gone from pooing three times a day to once.

We have 12 cats (yes 12)
and found that if you have a large multi cat household - nothing beats tesco value litter.
Yes, you need to clean the poop out daily (we have a litter locker) and we need to change the 4 trays every 3/4 days.
We've just bought a new tray as we only had 3, so our monthly litter bill is now around £25 instead of £18
We don't bother with tray liners anymore - as several of our kittehs like to tear them to shreds!
To help with wee absorption we put a 2/3 page layer of newspaper at the bottom of the trays.
I think we've got the balance just right for changing the litter, no smells, no disgruntled cats and no litter trails throughout the house.
For a good litter catcher - get some tesco value car mats and put them by the entrance to the litter trays - really catch the litter much much much better than the £4/5 ones that pet shops sell!!!0 -
Just wondering if anyone has noticed any of the crystal style cat litters in any sales?0

in my opinion - chemicals used in producing that will be ingested by your cat ....
I can't imagine this will go on sale as it lasts longer than most other litters & the convenience of such a product determines the premium prices charged.0 -
Hey, just noticed that Sainsburys have some of the Crystal style litter (which I now swear by) on special offer.
Details here http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/groceries/frameset/redirect.jsp?bmForm=deep_link_groceries_search_javascript&bmFormID=1262084982820&bmUID=1262084982820
If anyone finds a better deal anywhere please let me know, otherwise I am gonna head off later and bulk buy!0 -

Daisy has started to stink since I binned the Go Cat & switched her to Purina 1.
My local Co-Op have started to do own brand wood litter @ £2 a bag (small size) whereas a same size main brand in the Centra store is £2.90!:eek:0 -
I have just ordered two small bags of okoplus, which are usually £7.29 in Pets At Home, for £5.99 from zooplus :money: even with a delivery charge of £2.90 it works out cheaper than PAH! These will last me two months with my two cats, if not longer!
I ordered some food as well to get free delivery, and cos it was my first order I got a welcome coupon
so two £5.99 bags of litter and a £20 bag of Orijen came to just £29 :money:
(Before someone points out that I could save more by ordering the big bag, I would have nowhere to put it once opened
3/4 of the small bag fills the tray, and then the remainder fits in a small bin!) Mummy to
