i cant sleep

hiya
hope you are all enjoying the sunshine!

just wandered if anyone could help me as im fed up and absolutley shattered.
in the last 8 nights i havent had more than 3 hours sleep per night, which isnt normal at all for me, im usually sparked out on the sofa by 10pm and sleep really well.

i am spending my days feeling exhausted and getting really upset all the time (maybe hormonal though as i had my first period since jan after losing my baby beg of may ?) my OH actually came home from work yesterday as he was ringing me and i just couldnt stop crying. im finding everything such a drain and when im on my own i really cant stop the tears, which i dont know is cos of no sleep, hormones or what!

i got very drunk on friday (and sunday..ahem) and still didnt sleep (i know you sleep diffrently when drunk but thought would at least knock me out like usual!) i went to placement on saturday after having less than two hours (i know i had this as i moved into spare room at 4am, obviously still awake, and then alarm got me up at 6am

so i guess im wandering if any1 has any tips or ideas or solutions?
also suppose i was wanting to get it off my chest...thanks for reading

When I had insomnia I went to my doc and got 2 weeks sleeping pills, just to get me back into a routine. Worked a treat, and I didn't need them after that.

So my suggestion is go see doc!

You are probably still grieving for the loss of your baby. Insomnia can be a symptom of grief.

When I have trouble sleeping, I put a few drops of lavender oil on my pillow and it does help.

Tiredness is depressing and no wonder you feel low at the moment. But it will get better.

Hi emma, I think the best advice is to go to your doctor too.

I hope you get some sleep then.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. This sounds like grief to me. I would recommend you see your doctor.

A month is not a long time to be getting over something as traumatic as the loss of a baby. I agree with the others and would say it is grief, but you do not necessarily need medication - only if it is seriously affecting you. Grief is not the same as depression. I would suggest you see your GP though and ask for a counsellor to talk through your feelings with him/her.

i know it doesnt seem two minutes its quite strange to think its a month, i think its ppls attitudes that have made me think come on its been a month..
im hoping my tutor can refer me to a counsellor as i dont want medication. im just finding everything such a huge effort and not concentrating at all on placement or with my uni work. i cant let everything suffer though i have to get back to normal.
i have got an EXAM at 2pm!!

I think uni counsellor is a good idea if you don't feel able to see your doctor. I also think you are right to see your tutor - most of them are very supportive in my experience. Student counsellor can help you sort out any assignments or exams you struggle with - perhaps by helping you put in a claim to redo/resit them.

    Hope you feel better soon
